Puck Daddy - NHL

If we have neglected it previously, we'd like to now formally thank Martin Gerber and Tuukka Rask for going bat-poop crazy on the referees recently; because without their efforts, the following must-see video clip may not exist.

In honor of the Toronto Maple Leafs goalie's three-game suspension for bumping a referee (video), and for Rask's epic milk-crate tossing meltdown that actually made the cut, SportsCentre on TSN counted down the top 10 moments featuring goalies losing their minds. How crazy are we talking? Not to put too fine a point on it, but Patrick Roy and Ray Emery are 50 percent of this video. Enjoy:

A few thoughts:

• From a sheer entertainment value standpoint, we'd obviously love to see Ray Emery back in the NHL next season. But did that diva moment near the tunnel, which certainly made the rounds on the Web and on television, submarine his chances for next season? For what it's worth, his KHL coach was pleased with his play and several NHL teams could be interested, according to TFP.

• Neil Little, the dude that flew in from the top turnbuckle on Emery in that ridiculous AHL clip, is a member of the Philadelphia Phantoms Hall of Fame and serves as a coach/global scout in the Philadelphia Flyers organization. "Now, son, when you stage dive on another player, make sure to keep your skates down ..."

• Finally, this was Saint Patrick's reaction to Hasek of the Detroit Red Wings skating down the ice at him before meekly stumbling over a stick on the ice for a Shockmaster-level downer: "I was a bit surprised," then-Colorado Avalanche goalie Roy told the AP in 2002. "Was it out of line? I think it was. He was probably trying to prove something. I don't know what it was."

The flying goaltender wins, although Hasek going blaah onto the ice was awesome, although he did redeem himself last season when he took out Gaborik.
    Goalies are nuts.
How does Belfour not make this video?

Good clips! Admittedly, as a goalie myself, it's easy to lose your cool. I've chased after a few refs in my day. I'm surprised SportsCentre didn't dig into the archives a little. In the 80's and beyond, the goalies would go bonkers on a regular basis. I'm sure Billy Smith was caught on tape with one of his tirades. These clips reminded me of how much I loved Felix the Cat's spunk and Cujo's passion. Hasek is a moron....and i'm not a big Emery fan, but that clip where Chris Peters cuts in, he's a piece of garbage. The entire Sen's team should've jumped him and let Emery and Biron dance. Poor Biron looked lonely after losing his dancing partner!

Why didn't Emery ever play for the Flyers. This could be an entire Flyers video montage of crazy goaltenders. And for the record Chelios had it comin!

What no clips of Arturs Irbe picking up fallen opposing forwards out of his grease and dumping him on the ice like a bag of garbage? Or skating out to center ice to deliver a hip check to some cherry-picker?

I thought Vernon v. Roy was better. Coincidentally, today is the 12th anniversary of that game. Larionov bloodied up Forsberg, Vernon exposed Roy as a punk, and McCarty turned Lemieux into a NEWT (actually a turtle)...but he got better.
Oh, and Larionov to Shanahan to McCarty for the game-winner in OT.

okay 50% of Emery and Roy ... but the other 50% are all Flyers goalies ... 2 Hextall, 1 Snow, 1 Little, 1 Biron ... Only goal controversy in Philly is a goalie that doesn't drop 'um and go.

Did you sense that Avalanche announcer in Roy vs Osgood was a bit partial, like he had $20 bucks on the decision.

Two Roy fights and they don't have the Dan Cloutier/Tommy Salo fight. It is awesome! Cloutier taunts the whole Islanders bench at the end. I was at that game!

How the hell do they put Hasek/Roy on there and leave Vernon/Roy off that? Vernon/Roy was one of the best goalie fights of all time!
@M: As much as I like Cheli (Wings fan, obv.), he definitely had it coming for that dirty hit on Propp.
Also, that Avalanche announcer sounded like he'd been holding that nut in for the past year.
