Whether he's mocking Ilya Kovalchuk's paycheck, laughing maniacally at Randy Jones(notes) getting hit from behind or just dropping a Revolutionary War reference to celebrate a Boston Bruins win, NESN's Jack Edwards has got to be tops on any list of homer announcers ... and that's why we love him.
Edwards added to his list of memorable calls last night as Milan Lucic's(notes) potted an empty-netter to put the Boston Bruins up 3-0 in their first meeting with the Philadelphia Flyers since last season's Eastern Conference semifinal:
Whenever someone decides to make a time capsule for this decade or in celebration of the next centennial, a DVD of the greatest calls from NESN's Jack Edwards must be included with the other historical treasures ...
If we had our way, Edwards would be the play-by-play man for every game with a big story angle:
• The Pittsburgh Penguins beating the Washington Capitals in Game 7 of the 2009 playoffs? "You've 'arrived' at your destination, Washington. Loserville!"
• Eric Belanger(notes) scoring an overtime game-winner against Washington? "The Capitals made you pull your children from school, but you just pulled victory from their hands!"
• Jaroslav Halak(notes) giving up a fifth goal in his first meeting against Carey Price(notes)? "Tell your agent to Tweet that, HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA!"
• And finally, Dany Heatley(notes) losing in his return to Ottawa tonight? "How's this for a reduced role?!"
