Puck Daddy - NHL

Not long after he successfully defended his Breakaway Challenge title, Washington Capitals captain Alex Ovechkin(notes) had quite the experience in the Hardest Shot competition.

After tripping over a television wire, breaking his twig during an attempt and then seeing two of his shots (using Kris Letang's(notes) stick) not register due a gun malfunction, things seemed over for Ovie until the Carolina crowd eventually swayed  the judges give him one more opportunity:

Ovie's final attempt was good enough for the eighth best shot in the competition and his 48.3 mph attempt when shattering his stick was almost as impressive as Rick Nash's(notes) first try which hit a weak 88 mph.
