The following clip is not for the squeamish. In Game 2 of the Green Bay Gamblers' USHL playoff series against the Indiana Ice, defenseman Matt Stewart fought Indiana's Blake Coleman. After a spirited scrap, Coleman grabs Stewart in a headlock and takes him to the ice. The front of Coleman's skate blade gets caught on the ice, his leg bends under his weight and then breaks on impact.
Again: If you have trouble watching nasty injuries, you might wanna skip this one.
We called the Gamblers, who told us that Stewart's season is over (obviously) and that he's returned to his home in Michigan for surgery on the leg. Game 3 of their series against Indiana is Friday, April 23, in Indiana (Game 2 was played in Green Bay).
And with that, we've hopefully completed the preposterous hat-trick of bizarre Green Bay Gamblers clips that we've featured this season, along with their slaying of a bat on the ice and that pre-shootout goalie fight.
Prediction: The Gamblers' 2009-10 season-in-review DVD outsells "Avatar."
