The Toronto Maple Leafs hosted the Colorado Avalanche tonight with hopes of winning their first game, turning their season around and quieting scuttlebutt about Coach Ron Wilson's job status.

Failing to accomplish any of that through two three periods, the Leafs instead provided hockey fans with two of the most bizarre clips of the young season, beginning with Ian White's(notes) audition to become Toronto's newest option in goal:

Classic butterfly goaltender, eh? Do fantasy owners that have Ian White on their rosters get extra points for those three saves? Better question: Do fantasy owners actually have Ian White on their rosters?

Later, Mike Komisarek(notes) continued the awful start to his hockey season with the equally inauspicious start to his soccer career with an "own-goal":

You have to watch it carefully during the slo-mo, but yes: The puck literally went off of Komisarek's noggin and behind Joey MacDonald(notes). Good to see Burke-ian truculence has even trickled into the manner in which the Leafs score on themselves. Really, the only question left is whether they'll put a slide whistle or a "bonk" sound effect on this clip during the wacky sports anchor highlight reel. We vote "bonk."

Stick tap to Jeffler for both clips.
