With the Atlanta Thrashers clinging to a 4-3 lead over the Philadelphia Flyers in the third period, goalie Johan Hedberg(notes) left his crease to make a save on Simon Gagne(notes). Little did The Moose know it would lead to one of the strangest highlights of the season. Cue the Benny Hill theme:

The only comparison we can make is when you're putting on a shirt at an odd hour in the morning and you accidentally put your head inside the sleeve -- and then the phone rings.

Kukla has another view of the save. Impressive win for the Thrashers on Thursday night, rallying with three goals in the third period against the Flyers and getting what they needed to out of Hedberg. The Flyers had been an amazing 22-0-2 when leading after two periods, and Tim Panaccio of CSNPhilly.com got the post-mortem from Chris Pronger(notes):

"We got to fight [for points] and I thought we understood that going into the game and I thought we did," Pronger said. "To have a 3-1 lead going into the third against a team right on our heels, and then to come away with a 4-3 loss...

"Frustration isn't the word. Disappointment is the word. We're up 3-1 and in control of the game. We've got to have that killer instinct to get that next goal and put teams away. Come in with a killer instinct that we're going to dominate teams in the third period in our building, especially, we got a lead like that."

More from the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, including how Jim Slater(notes) and Evander Kane(notes) combined to rally the Thrash, who are back in a playoff seed.
