Puck Daddy - NHL

The name Semyon Varlamov(notes) is well-known, thanks to his playoff heroics for the Washington Capitals two years ago and his ascension to the starting job last season.

The name Michal Neuvirth(notes) might be familiar as the Capitals' other bright young goaltending prospect and Calder Cup-winning keeper for the Hershey Bears.

Braden Holtby(notes)? Unless you're a Caps prospect watcher, a Bears fan or someone who caught his 13 games with the South Carolina Stingrays of the ECHL, the name might as well be gibberish.

But the 20-year-old goalie's stint with the Bears last season put him in the conversation for Capitals "goalie of the future" and he will have the starting gig in Hershey next season ahead of former Pittsburgh Penguins keeper Dany Sabourin(notes)

We attended Capitals Development Camp on Tuesday* as Holtby spoke about the Capitals' goaltending situation and whether he can move ahead of either Varlamov or Neuvirth ... as well as his recent Lasik eye surgery and his oddest quirks as a goalie.

* Yes, Capitals development camp. We live in D.C. It was a place other than our mom's basement to blog, kid seemed interesting. Commence the "Caps Daddy!" evisceration in the comments.
