Washington Capitals defenseman John Erskine(notes) scored the game-winning goal in their 6-4 victory over the Atlanta Thrashers on Sunday evening. But long after that final score becomes just another decision in the standings, Erskine's most memorable performance in the game will be this heavyweight bout with Eric Boulton(notes) of the Thrashers.

Whether it stays there depends on the continuing voting, but cracking a 9.0 on Hockey Fights is indicative of being a Fight of the Year candidate. In fact, last season's Fight of the Year was Rick Rypien(notes) vs. Cam Janssen(notes), which pulled down a 9.1.
