Puck Daddy - NHL

The announcers here are transfixed on the sneaky little play Tyler Kennedy makes behind the Atlanta Thrashers' net, using his leg to trip up Ron Hainsey and steal the puck. The more replays they view, however, the more it becomes apparent that Sidney Crosby had just scored a remarkable goal for the Pittsburgh Penguins:

Falling down was one thing; placing the puck where he did while falling down ... well, that's pretty darn cool right there. Sid had a goal and two assists, and the Penguins skated away with a 3-2 win over the rapidly cooling Thrashers. Like we said: Underrated goal scorer.

I listened to this goal called by Mike Lange on the radio feed and it was much better. I still can't believe FSN kicked him out of the TV broadcast.

It's no Ovie on the back shot. Every year there are a few of those failing while shooting goals. Seen it.

or the one I can't find of Z putting it in as he's checked and flying through the air totally parallel to the ice, also during the playoffs.

im not that impressed. nice shot, but shooting while being in oddball positions isnt some overly taxing, mind blowing feat. hell, Bobby Orr's leveled-pass-on-the-ground or Ovechkin's ridiculous on the ice goals are 100 times more ridiculous

Agreed. Generally, roof shots from in-close are overrated. Hell, I find a good break-out pass to a guy open for a split second much more challenging. O.k., I'm not even that great at simple passing.

Versteeg's goal was impressive, but that last camera angle of Sidney's goal shows that it was clearly much more impressive. oh and Bob Errey needs to go "Does he not?" (for those who watch FSN Pittsburgh, you'll get that one) bring back Mike Lange.

nice goal, he's had better, and worse, Versteeg's was much better however, I'd consider that only a notch or two down from the Toews goal from last year

Versteeg was "penalized" because he didn't fall down. The judges like it when you fall down.
I think a skillfull goal through traffic is more impressive than a falling-down-all-by-yourself goal.

Honestly, this isn't an impressive goal. Why does he go down? There is no one around him to hit him, and there was no sudden movements to make him lose his balance.
Unless he's playing with a major ear infection, this is weak. I think I've seen him do something similar before.

he didn't fall down, you j@ckoffs. the puck was behind him, so the way he had to reach for it made him go off balance. 90% of you have never put on hockey skates, let alone roofed a goal. there's a reason this goal was posted and verjokes wasn't.

its really fascinating that the commentors here hate crosby so much that they decry even his great goals as rubbish. Can't you guys just chill out and enjoy a good hockey play when you see one? If that was (YOUR FAVORITE PLAYER HERE) doing the same move, you would have just wet your pants with excitement.

I agree with toaster- yes versteeg's goal was impressive, maybe even better than crosby's. But nowhere in this post is versteeg mentioned. It was a just a great play; he was moving away from the puck when he received it, that's why he lost his balance, and to place that shot on the top shelf while falling down took a tremendous amount of skill.

This post has nothing to do with Crosby's goal. I'm just tired of Red Wing fans insulting everyone else. So lets set the record straight... Red Wings Stanley Cup Champians, one of the original six, Play in a city with a population of 881,721 (2006 census). AND YOU STILL CAN'T FILL THE ARENA............and it has nothing to do with the price of a ticket, IF THEY WERE FREE THE PLACE WOULD STILL BE EMPTY. Hockey is a business and Detroit is OUT OF BUSINESS............
