At 16:41 of the first period of Tuesday night's 5-1 win against the New Jersey Devils, Washington Capitals rookie Andrew Gordon(notes) went to the net and converted a pinpoint pass from center Marcus Johansson for his first NHL goal.
Gordon was drafted in the seventh round of the 2004 Draft and has toiled in the AHL since 2007. Combine that with having scored his first NHL goal against the great Martin Brodeur(notes), and you can forgive the guy for being a little energized ...
... even if that enthusiasm eventually manifested itself into something amorous on the Capitals bench:
That was his assist man Marcus Johansson on the receiving end of that smooch. From the Washington Examiner:
"The play was going on. I didn't figure that would be on TV," Gordon said. "But I was just trying to show my appreciation."
Mike Vogel of the Capitals website had another quote from Gordon about his kissing history: "I was on the Kiss Cam in Hershey a couple times and I laid one on Kyle Wilson’s(notes) helmet."
C'mon guys: It's not TV, it's HBO. No need to limit it to the cheek ...
