The Panthers find the win column on the back of their netminder, as Vokoun made 27 saves for his 39th career shutout in a 3-0 victory at the Calgary Flames. Ten of those saves came in the first two periods; he stopped 17 shots in a brilliant third period to close the book on this one. The Edmonton Oilers held a 2-1 lead in the second period, seeking to avoid a 14th straight loss in Minnesota. That was until Koivu scored twice on the power play in less than a minute, and had the primary helper on Matt Cullen's(notes) power-play goal in the third period. The Wild won, 4-2, as Niklas Backstrom(notes) stopped 24 shots to move to 12-0-0 against Edmonton at home in his career. The Wild went 4-for-6 on the power play.
Fisher opened the scoring with one of the best shifts of the young season and an unassisted goal, and then scored from the slot on the power play with 5:57 left in the game to give Ottawa its first win of the season, 3-2, over the Carolina Hurricanes.
