As far as hockey treasures on eBay go, the bronze bust of Montreal Canadiens legend Hector "Toe" Blake ranks up there with the most blissfully random. From the auction:

In 1982, during renovations to the Forum in Montreal, the Owners of the Canadiens commissioned renowned Sculptor Laurent Bonet to produce a Series of 10 Bronze Busts depicting the most important Coaches and Founders in the Franchise's colorful history.

This substantial Bronze Toe Blake Prototype is One-Of-A-Kind Piece as the Ten Original Commissioned pieces from the series, once displayed at the Montreal Forum, are now available for public viewing at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

As the head-line (wocka wocka!) said, Toe Blake's noggin will set you back $10,000. But isn't that worth having the likeness of a hockey legend on an 11-inch bronze paperweight? Or doorstop? Or implement for bludgeoning?

Which is to say that there's still time for some intrepid Toronto Maple Leafs fans to buy Toe Blake's head, melt it down and recast it as Punch Imlach. Good luck topping that one, Montreal.

Too many head jokes come to mind, one of the crappier ones is: that's the only way the Leafs will ever get ahead.

Would placing Toe Blake's bronzed head in the urinals at the ACC not be way better than tossing a lame laminated hockey card in there? Time for the Teacher's Pension Board to write a cheque for $10,000.

Now, now, the Leafs and Habs fans don't need anything more to throw on the ice.

$10,000 for the head of Toe Blake? Big deal! For only the price of a cup of coffee Jim Carey will clean your house. Throw in lunch and he'll play for your beer league hockey team.

Doesn't look anything like Williams though; more like a young Jebediah Springfield.
