Here's something for the Winter Olympic tourism literature, via News 1130 in Vancouver:

There was a brawl between fans of the Canucks and Avalanche outside GM Place after the game let out. After taunting each other, a friend of one of the Avalanche fans grabbed a couple of beer bottles and hit a Canucks fan over the head.

When a witness tried jumping in to break up the fight he was stabbed in the neck with a bottle. Both victims have minor injuries.

The Vancouver Canucks defeated the Colorado Avalanche, 3-0, on Sunday night in a game that ironically didn't feature a fighting major. The Vancouver Province provided the update today:

The minor injuries were treated at hospital, but there were no arrests, Vancouver police spokesman Const. Lindsey Houghton said Monday. "When we don't have the co-operation of victims, it makes it extremely hard to proceed with charges," he said.

So someone gets stabbed in the neck with a beer bottle, considers it merely a flesh wound and decides not a press charges? Admittedly, we haven't been to Vancouver in a few years; when did it become the city equivalent of "Road House"?

It just seems so out of character for Canucks fans to ... oh, wait, no it doesn't. (PG-13 language on YouTube page).

Actually, Vancouver really was the city equivalent of Road House right up until the late '80's. Or more accurately, North America's version of Glasgow. Then if got infested with pot-smoking hippies and down-vest wearing Torontonians.

Wysh... did you add a wrong Canucks fight YouTube vid? The link takes you a boring vid a guy being escorted down the steps. Please tell me you did. If not, I can find you hundreds of vid from 10-year old games that are more intense.

Shouldn't put down those pot smoking hippies, alot of them probly make alot more money then you and keep the local capital flowing. Besides, when did, house moms, factory workers, health care workers, shop owners, lawyers, doctors, buisness people, and other hard working folks become hippies just for smoking alittle of gods green earth. aint no worse then beer & wine drinkers and arguably less harmful for you.

According to the story it was an Avs fan's friend that stabbed a guy in the neck. What a lame-o, further investigation will no doubt uncover the dude is a flyer supporter.

I went to a Sharks - Canucks game in Vancouver a few years back (wearing my Sharks jersey), and the Canuck fans were total jerks. Didn't get into a fight, but one would not have been hard to find. I was surprised - I've been to Oakland Raider games and opposing team fans get treated better in Oakland. Don't know if the rest of Canada is like that, but I lost all respect for Canuck fans forever after that...

@ Runnin' up on ya : Oh...it's on alright.
Kes is going to give Gabby fits. Burrows will be yapping at Dubi incessantly. Rypien will drop Brash like a bad habit. Bieksa punishing Avery. Awesome!
...and King Henry will stand on his head and ruin everything... 3-1 NYR (Kotalik, Del Sotto on the PP, Callahan into an empty net. Salo on the PP for Vancouver...and then he'll get injured high-fiving Ehrhoff)
Wish I was going to the game, it's easy to sneak 15 ounces of everclear and a switchblade pass security....fun times!

My friend and I were talking in the lobby during the recent Blackhawks-Canucks game. At one point, I made a "Buffy the Luongo Slayer" comment. I didn't notice a Canucks fan nearby, and when I did, he gave me a dirty look.
This "insight" on Canucks fans makes be grateful I'm just a teenage fangirl who is not worth the energy of a right hook!
