Bourque scored his 99th and 100th NHL goals to help pace the Flames to a 4-0 shutout of the Montreal Canadiens in the Heritage Classic at McMahon Stadium. The Flames forward was hungry for goals as he lead all players with 11 shots. Miikka Kiprusoff(notes) stopped 39 shots for the first shutout in NHL outdoor game history and Alex Tanguay(notes) scored a power play goal and added an assist in the win. Bourque earned his second of the night by doing a wonderful job of corraling a bouncing puck:
Perreault had a hand in both Washington goals during their 2-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres. Scoring only his second goal since Jan. 1st to open the game in the second period, Perreault's rebound deflected shot off Marcus Johansson's(notes) stick with 9:40 to go in the third period was the deciding factor in the Caps' win.
With the game on his stick in the shootout, Bertuzzi ended his 1,000th NHL game by beating Niklas Backstrom(notes) top-shelf to give the Red Wings a 2-1 win over the Minnesota Wild. Bert became the 33rd active and 263rd player in NHL history to hit the 1,000-game mark. Jimmy Howard(notes) made 25 saves for win No. 30 on the season.
Honorable mention: Sabres forward Paul Gaustad(notes) played in his 400th NHL game ... After losing their lead late in the third period, Patrick Kane(notes) scored the only goal in the shootout to give the Chicago Blackhawks a 4-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Penguins in a match-up of the past two Stanley Cup champions. Patrick Sharp(notes) opened the scoring with his 31st of the season ... Claude Giroux(notes) and Dan Carcillo(notes) scored 3:34 apart in the second period and Kris Versteeg(notes) added an empty-netter for his first goal as a Flyer as Philadelphia got by the New York Rangers 4-2. Brian Boucher(notes) finished with 37 saves for his fourth straight win ... Martin Havlat(notes) scored the only goal for the Wild giving him 500 career points ... Niklas Backstrom helped force the shootout after robbing Danny Cleary(notes) in overtime:
Did you know? Philadelphia did not commit one penalty against the Rangers this afternoon.
Dishonorable mention: Pittsburgh was beat handily in the faceoff circle winning just 26 of 70 draws ... Marian Gaborik(notes) may miss some time for the Rangers after he was diagnosed with a concussion.
