The Canucks defenseman scored the game-winning and insurance goals in Vancouver's Game 5 victory at the Chicago Blackhawks, 4-1. Bieksa joined the rush in the first period, taking a Kyle Wellwood(notes) pass in the slot and scoring. In the second, he blasted a one-timer from the point through an Alex Burrows screen to make it 3-0. He also played 27:04 in a game in which defenseman Sami Salo(notes) went out after the first period, and picked up an assist on the empty-netter to clinch the win.
Vancouver's captain answered his critics with a confident, sound, 29-save performance to cut the Chicago series lead to 3-2. Key moment: His second-period save on Patrick Sharp(notes) after an Andrew Alberts(notes) turnover. Luongo also made three shorthanded saves as Chicago went 0-for-4 on the power play.
