Statue Wars: Have Flyers fans already struck in Pittsburgh?

As Philadelphia Flyers fans are still sponging off the last traces of that Sidney Crosby T-shirt from the city's Rocky Balboa statue, it appears as though a counterstrike may have been launched in the Steel City.

The Orange Crush, the Cheesesteak doppelganger of The Pensblog, was sent pictures of a Broad Street Bullies sweater draped over the Art Rooney statue located at Heinz Field. Hey, at least they made the founder of the Pittsburgh Steelers a captain.

Are these recent pics, or more shoe-horning of old photos into this new fan tradition? We'll see if, in the eyes of Pittsburgh Penguins fans, this rises to the level of blasphemy some believe the Rocky defacing achieved. Meanwhile, does anyone else find it odd that Vitamin Water appears to be the unofficial corporate sponsor of hockey fan landmark vandalism?  

UPDATE (3:57 p.m.): Lest we believe that hockey passion is limited to dueling statue humiliations, The 700 Level passes along a story about a Flyers fan who led a "Let's Go Flyers" chant ... at the end of the funeral Mass for his father, Sgt. Stephen Liczbinski, a 12-year veteran of the Philadelphia police force who was tragically killed in the line of duty last week.

    Reading the other one about the Rocky statue and this, I just don't understand people. This is just a kind-of-funny little prank. People having fun. What in the world is there to get so upset about?
    I'm a Pens fan and I chuckled when I saw this picture. Anybody who gets angered by this stuff needs to walk in front of traffic.

    Regarding the "Let's Go Flyers" chant at the funeral for Sgt. Liczbinski today - we watched the service on TV at work. Apparently Sgt. Liczbinski was a huge Flyers fan, so much so that the inside of his coffin had a Flyers logo on it, as well as the back window of his hearse. When his son led the chant, everyone in the church and the people standing outside joined in. It was pretty moving.
    I hope he heard it. RIP Sarge.

    Kudos dirt bags you managed revenge. OOOH Its not a tragedy to us. We have a ton of statues, no single one is the spirit of our city and you cannot hurt us like that, we still are not posting guards. Losers.
    What an A ss kicking tonight huh? Better luck in game two, I hope your Flygirls show up, I was expecting a great series. And if I did not know any better, I would say you had the refs in YOUR pocket. Wouldn't you agree? All those terrible high sticks, I counted five and you got away with all of them.

    Hey! It's all in good clean fun... make great Cup news clips, shows Hockey fans are avid south of the border and at the least, no one set any police cars on fire. Philly And Pittsburg have some of the most loyal fans in the NHL, NFL and MLB

    More mundane and banal this couldn't be.
    Why worry about living in cities and counties that are bankrupt and having a falling infrastructure when we can abuse the statues of the other teams cities; WEEEEEEEEE isn't this fun.
    Speaking as a citizen from Pittsburgh, I personally capitulate to all of you Flyers fans.
    You win, you are the victors; your skills at defacing and abusing are unsurpased by any in the whole universe.
