No. 1 star: Nicklas Backstrom(notes), Washington Capitals

The Capitals center led a rally after the Montreal Canadiens took a 4-1 lead in Game 2 of their series, and later scored 31 seconds into overtime to give Washington a 6-5 victory to even their series, 1-1. Alex Ovechkin(notes), who had a goal and three assists in the win, factored in two of Backstrom's tallies.

No. 2 star: Anze Kopitar(notes), Los Angeles Kings

After Vancouver was hit with an unfortunate too-many-men penalty in overtime, Kopitar converted a second-chance shot with a little help from Canucks goal Roberto Luongo(notes): "He made the save ... The puck was in the air and he was reaching back. It hit his knob and went in." Kopitar also set up Wayne Simmonds's(notes) tying goal in the second period. The Kings won, 3-2, to even their series at 1-1 with Vancouver. Here's the game-winner:

 

No. 3 star: Michael Ryder(notes), Boston Bruins

After scoring just two goals since March 18, Ryder tallied twice to lead the Bruins back from a 2-0 deficit and then take the lead with a pair of goals. Zdeno Chara(notes) also had two goals for the Bruins, who evened their series (1-1) with a 5-3 victory over Ryan Miller and the Buffalo Sabres.

Honorable Mention: Andrei Kostitsyn(notes) had an outstanding game for the Habs, tallying a hat trick and assisting on Tomas Plekanec's(notes) late third-period goal. Michael Cammalleri(notes) (3 assists) was also solid for Montreal. ... Mikael Samuelsson(notes) scored his third of the playoffs for Vancouver. ... Tuukka Rask(notes) (26 saves) had some stellar moments in the Bruins' win at the Sabres.

Dishonorable Mention: Jose Theodore(notes) was beaten on the first two shots of the Capitals game, getting replaced by Semyon Varlamov(notes) (19 saves on 22 shots). Is this the end of Theo in the postseason, getting yanked for Varly like last spring? ... Jaroslav Halak(notes) gave up 6 goals on 37 shots, and should have had a couple of those he let in. ... Roman Hamrlik(notes) and Jason Pominville(notes) were minus-3s. ... Thomas Vanek(notes) suffered a lower body injury after crashing into the boards. ... After earning 17 PIM in Game 1, Andrew Alberts(notes) of the Canucks earned another six in 9:07 of ice time. ... Finally, Scott Gomez(notes) had a bonehead fight in the third period for Montreal.
