Puck Daddy - NHL

It ain't easy being the Florida Panthers. They haven't made the playoffs since 2000. And their contraction or relocation was mentioned nearly every other day in our "5 Ways I'd Change the NHL" series.

But here's what the Panthers do have: A spiffy arena called the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, and a steadfast determination to get fans inside of it. Like with their 6 Pack Plan, in which you get six tickets to games and everything from gas vouchers to money for a jersey.

Well, now they've gone and done something even crazier than that: They've given Puck Daddy one hell of a ticket package to give away to a reader:

• Four tickets to the snazzy ADT Club at BankAtlantic Center for the Panthers' Friday, Nov. 14 game against the Stanley Cup champion Detroit Red Wings.

• Free food and drinks all night. (The Panthers clearly underestimate our readers' thirst.)

• A Florida Panthers prize pack, with swag like hats and shirts delivered to the winner's seat by mascot Stanley C. Panther and ... wait for it ... Panthers Ice Dancers.

So what do you have to do to earn these tickets? First of all, ask yourself if you can attend a Florida Panthers home game on Nov. 14. And if you can, we're looking for something on the positive tip. Something that, for once, celebrates this much-maligned franchise.

We're looking for your list of the Top 10 Reasons the Florida Panthers are Actually Pretty Cool.

Past or present. Coolest players. Coolest moments. Pavel Bure. The rats. Forcing out Mike Keenan. We're looking for the wittiest, most creative Top 10 list; hit us with words, videos, images and Photoshops. We'll publish the best ones. The winner gets that ticket package, which will be selected by your friends at Puck Daddy; second place will be given a spiffy Florida Panthers hat ... delivered by a postal worker, rather than ice girls.

E-mail your Top 10 Reasons the Florida Panthers are Actually Pretty Cool entries to puckdaddyblog@yahoo.com with your name and address. The contest deadline is noon (EDT) on Wednesday, Nov. 5. Once again: E-mail the entries here.

Have at it, bring the funny, and good luck ...

I used to live down there near the arena, great fun place to live in Florida. Too bad the Panthers don't have alot of die hard fans, people going to the games are just casual observers; families and old folk taking a friend out "to see a hockey game". Sorta like the Tampa Bay Rays, only with hockey not baseball. Still think the Panthers should stay there, management should do more to get people in the arena, and obviously get a better team so people can see some wins and maybe even playoffs!!

...#8. The Florida Panthers are actually pretty cool because... what other team has a player who once left 3 pints of blood on the ice? and currently has 3 points? and owns 3 Ford Pintos?
(zednik's wife is also pretty hot)

Wow...I'll stay out of this one for obvious reasons. I have enough trouble coming up with items to write about them several times per day (but ya just helped me out with one, Greg...thx).

Please post some of the better reasons when the contest is over, Wysh. Contests like these are great to see the sick, twisted and clever minds of hockey fans at work.
