"Say you root for a team that never has won the Stanley Cup. Say your team never has hosted a game in the Finals – unlike Holland's Red Wings, who go almost every year. How would you feel if your team finally made it, and you didn't get to have one game in your own building?" [Newsday]

"I see too many kids going the wrong way," he said. "They don't have the respect or the know-how to treat the sport — even Sidney Crosby. You see him bitching, whining and crying. He's supposed to be the poster boy of our league and yet every time he gets hit, he's grimacing and complaining to the referees. Veterans teach the kids the right way to play." Jeremy Roenick on a variety of topics, including Sidney Crosb. [Mercury News via Empty Netters]

I still think Youppi! looks better in his traditional Expos uniform...
If you are having breakfast with Youppi! Wysh, you better make sure he doesn't pull the old "breakfast sausage" trick and Expos himself to you...

Advice from Jeremy Roenick on how to act is like advice from Hitler on how to create world peace.
The guy faked being hurt during the lockout in order to collect disability pay, need I say more?

Don't let the doorknob hit you on the way to Kansas City. Make sure you bring Garth Snow with you.
The Town Of Hempstead will NOT succumb to that succubus Gary Bettman. F Bettman with Wysh's cigar.

Is that Youppi related to Elmo or something?
How is purchasing your own tickets allowed for Revenue sharing? That's like paying yourself extra to do your own business taxes and then using that as a tax deducatble expense. Smells like Fisherman's Wharf during a heat wave to me...

If Wang moves the Islanders to KC he is an idiot. If you look into his business practices of the past, he is a master negotiater (refer to his profile on Wikipedia to see how he dealt with employees of companies he took over).
He's just using KC as a bargaining chip to get his project done. Any team moving to KC is just asking for financial trouble before the first puck is dropped.

These highlight sets are always odd. They seem to put players and teams in high spots for no other reason other than the player and the team. Datsyuk was definitely top three, but Ribiero's goal was 10 times better. Don't think that isn't the first are 100th time that Datsyuk has been placed higher than he should just because he's Datsyuk.
Don't even think I'm gonig this because I don't like Detroit. I hate Dallas 10 times more than I do Detroit.

Roenick isn't one to complain about whining. After the Sharks choked their way out of the playoffs last year, he kept whining about the Sharks not getting "breaks" and "bounces". And yet, his own 500th career goal was one of the luckiest goals I've ever seen. Roenick, you are an idiot.

How nice of JR to offer advice to Crosby. By age 20 Crosby had already become a first overall NHL draft pick, won the Hart Trophy, the Lester B. Pearson Award, & the Art Ross Trophy. He is the youngest player in NHL history to win the Lester B. Pearson and is the second youngest player ever to win the Hart, after Gretzky, is also the youngest player ever to be named to the NHL's First All-Star Team, has won gold with Team Canada at the World Junior Hockey Championships, and already has scored 354 points in the NHL.
Roenick has not attained as many impressive accomplishments over his entire career. At the pace Crosby is scoring, he will in his mid-20s' already have passed Roenick by on the stat sheet, barring injury. JR just exudes "class" by attacking a far superior (and young player) in the press. Roenick is not in any position to being offering Crosby any advice on how to behave, period.

JR is one of the highest scoring Americans in NHL history. People always want to hate on JR, but he's been 1st class in San Jo. He does numerous talk shows, always insightful and has even spent a few periods in the TV/radio booths during his shoulder injury. The guy isn't a boring interview like Crosby, who spews the typical Bull Durham monologue full of clichés.
And it's true Crosby is a helluva a player, but the kid should tough it out a bit. You see him dish it out and then crumple up in a heap when he's hit. Of course he's going to set some scoring records and be around for some time, but JR was referring to Claude Lemiuex and older players (like himself) that help culture the younger guys. The new rules in the NHL favor speed (which it should), but the problem is that with that there was an influx of young players after the lock out that need to have some veterans that can "teach" them how to be on and off the ice.
JR's the man, this year we'll get him his cup. He deserves it. Look at the body of his career; I don't think that anyone can say that the guy didn't play his @ss off.

    @ William K
Quote: "JR is one of the highest scoring Americans in NHL history."
What is your point? In fact, the true all time "highest scoring American in NHL history", Modano, doesn't even rank in the NHL top 30 of all time, so how is such a nationalist based statistic like that even relevant to anyone other than Americans?
I guess that is why the NHL publishes such statistics for the benefit of the American viewers, so you'll feel better about your actual lack of relevance in the sport.
JR was I think also a part of a Team USA that featured players who trashed a hotel in Nagano, Japan after their abysmal performance there in the Winter Olympics, causing a mini international scandal and complete embarrassment for US Olympic & USA Hockey officials. You forgot to mention that one. Bet Crosby never sinks that low, because he is a winner.

    Back to you tiny man:
I think the whole point to the statement can be found within that simple sentence. For the record about Nagano, no player was ever identified as being the culprit. So don't try to link JR up with that. And the damage was $3k USD or $390K JPY, which Chelly foot the bill.
The NHL and all sports produce statistics of interest. I guess you would like to abandon all stats and records?
As for the lack of relevance to the sport? I grew up playing hockey in beautiful sunny California. I've followed the Sharks since their 2nd year in the league. Another statistic that you may not want to hear is that all but 6 NHL teams are in the US. The US is the market and thanks to the great one's popularity and growing the sport to places like Florida, Tennessee, Carolina, etc.
And another thing, Brett Hull has dual citizenship and played for the US squads in international competition and he's number 20 on the all time list.
Sharks are going all the way, tiny tim.
