Here are your Evening Puck Headlines and Previews: A glorious collection of news and views collected from the greatest blogosphere in sports and the few, the proud, the mainstream hockey media.

• Thanks again everyone for a great week. Hockey Rumors Christmas is next week, and we have plenty on tap. It's going to be fun. Meanwhile, please do check out the Create-a-Card contest gallery on Flickr and remember to throw your support to the Pork Bellies.
• The Florida Panthers have sent Nick Boynton home for "disciplinary reasons" while the team is on a Northeast swing. George Richards reports that "Boynton was benched for the third period of Thursday's comeback win against the Rangers and there have been rumors general manager Jacques Martin was even thinking of waiving Boynton." But it's all a bit of a mystery as for why this has occurred. One thing's pretty clear: Boynton might be on his fourth team since 2006 by next week. Preview: Montreal Canadiens at Philadelphia Flyers (7 p.m. EST: TV: TSN, RDS). So even after sending a pair of players to waivers, the Flyers still might not have the cap room to bring back Danny Briere? Sheesh. How many fantasy owners picked up newly minted Hab Glen Metropolit for this game?
• New York Islanders defenseman Brendan Witt received five games for his elbow on Niklas Hagman for the Toronto Maple Leafs last night. And yet Paul Gaustad roams our streets a free man ... [TSN]
• Shane O'Brien of the Canucks would like to beat his former team the Lightning "10-0" this evening. Does he mean his penalty minutes vs. theirs? [Lightning Strikes]
Preview: Tampa Bay Lightning at Vancouver Canucks (10 p.m. EST; TV: SUN, CPPV). The Kurtenblog continues to perform a public service, introducing newest 'Nuck Ossi Vaananen to the masses with insights like this possible nickname: "In a Vaananen down by the river."
• Eric Duhatschek offers a great deadline notebook and floats this notion: "If the Capitals falter in their quest to win the Stanley Cup and they do so because their goaltending came up short, would owner Ted Leonsis ever free up the money to sign the Minnesota Wild's Niklas Backstrom as an unrestricted free agent?" Why, are they suddenly going to start playing the trap to pad his numbers, too? [Globe & Mail]
• The Dallas Stars are looking at this weekend's game like they're playoff games. Don't tell Turco. [Dallas Stars Blog]
Preview: Los Angeles Kings at Detroit Red Wings (7:30 p.m. EST; TV: FSW, FSD). Dustin Brown is back with the Kings after baby leave. Jamie Samuelsen's case for supporting Chris Osgood as the Wings' starter: "Osgood is a concern. But he hasn't played his way out of the starting job. He can't do that in the regular season, only the postseason."
• Zack Parise thinks he can score 50 goals this season. He knows he's a Devil, right? [Star Ledger]
• From our buddy Matt at Two Eight Nine Design comes this T-shirt collector's item, perfect for the snorkeling enthusiast and/or Ovechkin fan in your life. [TwoEightNine]
Preview: Pittsburgh Penguins at Chicago Blackhawks (8:30 p.m. EST; TV: FSPI, CSNC, Yahoo! Sports). Chris Kunitz skated with his new team today, but Sidney Crosby will miss his second straight game with a wonky groin. Not like Adam Burish cares or anything ...
• Both Marc Savard and Milan Lucic are questionable for the Boston Bruins in their afternoon affair against the Washington Capitals on Saturday. [Bruins Blog]
• A glorious yuletide carol: "'Twas the Night before Hockey Christmas." Points for rhyming "Peter Chiarelli" with "Dino Cicarelli." [Stanley Cup of Chowder]
Preview: Minnesota Wild at Calgary Flames (9 p.m. EST; TV: FSNO, RSW). The Flames are looking for their fourth win this season against the Wild. By the way, with Marian Gaborik on the shelf for most of the year, do you know who the leading goal-scorer for the Wild is? That would be Owen Nolan with 17 goals. Yikes.
• One of our favorite bits: The John Davidson translation machine. [St. Louis Game Time]
• Finally, from Bangin Panger comes this incredible hit from Patrick Kaleta on Rod Brind'Amour from last night's action. Kaleta got a charging penalty for hitting Brind'Amour so hard, whoever sired him felt it:

Legal?? You cannot line up a player from about the middle of the ice, skate as hard as you can, and hit him; that's charging.
NHL Rule 47:
Charging shall mean the actions of a player who, as a result of distance traveled, shall violently check an opponent in any manner. A "Charge" may be the result of a check into the boards, into the goal frame or in open ice.

Kaleta is yet another no-talent 4th-line dirt-bag that represents a FAR bigger problem to hockey's image and the health of talented players than fighters do.
The best thing that could happen to hockey this summer would be a recession-induced contraction of a half-dozen teams, thereby eliminating 72 of the most pointless FW and 36 of the worst pylons on D. Until they get serious about fighting, fighters will still be employed. But the gutless, worthless, human pinball machines - Kaleta, the Ruutus, the Sutters, Cooke, Downie - will be gone.
Witt got 5 games. That's a start.

Who knows, Parise might score 50. He certainly has the touch this season. Let's just hope he isn't Brian Gionta Jr., one good goal scoring season then crapola.

Brind A'mour deserved this hit for an elbow he gave Spacek earlier (that went unpenalized for some reason)
I'm all for the Kaletas of the league.
