Here are your Morning(-ish) Puck Headline: A glorious collection of news and views collected from the greatest blogosphere in sports and the few, the proud, the mainstream hockey media.
• Wasn't that whole "lifetime contract" thing supposed to end the annual Vincent Lecavalier trade rumors carnival? Darren Dreger of TSN reports that there is a tug of war going on in the Tampa Bay Lightning's front office as "some want the club to trade him and some don't want him to be traded." And hey, look: The Montreal Canadiens are mentioned as a possible destination. Seems like old times ... much more on this later. [TSN]
• Meanwhile, Pierre Lebrun of ESPN clarifies Vinny's no-movement clause and writes that more teams are calling the Bolts -- because of the perception of their financial woes -- than are being called by the Bolts. [ESPN]
• Huzzah! Due to the crappy economy and their own alleged infighting, the NHLPA is expected to vote to extend the current Collective Bargaining Agreement in the next few weeks. [Sports Business Journal]
• Bobby Holik of the New Jersey Devils, on scoring a goal off of his face: "Luckily it was Mike Mottau shooting the puck ... he can't hurt a fly with that shot, so it's all good." [NHL]
• The Carolina Hurricanes are designing sandwiches for Harris Teeter supermarkets, and Carolina on Ice builds an impressive comedy pyramid. Our favorite: The "Johnny Grahame," which is "a bottle of Tequila sandwiched between two Hooters girls." [CoI]
• Rick Nash has been placed on IR by the Columbus Blue Jackets with a lower body injury. Well ain't that a kick to the ... lower body. [Jackets]
• Denver Post writer Terry Frei pens a screed against the Blue Jackets' gossip about Adam Foote last season: "...the use of unnamed sources, likely with axes grinding, for much of the material undercuts the credibility." [Denver Post]
• The Blue Jackets have no desire to trade for Jason Spezza. [Puck-rakers]
• Brian Burke claims that most of the trade proposals he's received since taking over the Toronto Maple Leafs are simply "garbage." And with that, the Flames withdraw their offer of Andre Roy for Tomas Kaberle ... [Sun Media]
• Two gloomy views of the Phoenix Coyotes' future. Damien Cox examines how the franchise is thriving on the ice and failing economically off of it. [Toronto Star]
• Also, from The Puck Stops Here: "If Phoenix and a few other markets fail and the NHL wind up contracting, the league's economic picture will have changed significantly and they will be left with a failed CBA that cost the league a season to be implemented and did not offer the biggest gain it promised." [PSH]
• Ho-hum: The Detroit Red Wings are looking for their seventh straight win, having outscored their opponents 12-2 over the last three games. Good luck tonight, Dallas. [CBC]
• London Knights center John Tavares and Swedish defenseman Victor Hedman still remain the top two reasons why you want your slice of crap team to throw its season. [NHL]
• Really interesting dispatch from the New York Islanders, as Bryan Trottier and a delegation from the team went to Harbin, China for the Charles B. Wang Ice Hockey Project Hope Tournament. Blogs, photos, videos ... this is what an official site should be doing for its fans. [Islanders]
• Sad news from Europe: "The career of Robert Müller, the German goalie who played in his country's top league the last couple of seasons while undergoing treatment for an incurable brain tumor, may be over." [Slap Shots]
• Japers takes an interesting look at the Washington Capitals power play, and how fancy-pants play from certain star players has hurt more than helped. [Japers Rink]
• Hot blog on blog action: Analyzing and honoring Kukla's Korner. [Puck The Media]
• Could organized crime be trying to fix hockey matches? [Greatest Hockey Legends]
• Finally, the delightful Sarah Spain chats with Chicago Blackhawks road roommates Ben Eager and Dave Bolland about ... well, cuddling:

Not sure if organized crime is trying to fix hockey games, but I'm sure they'd love for Phoenix to relocate the team to Las Vegas.

As for the Wings: Those guys just flat-out DOMINATED against the Sabres over the weekend. And we're not just talking shots on goal and puck possession - those guys are astoundingly good in the face-off circle. Henrik Zetterberg, Pavel Datsyuk, and Kris Draper are all in the top 20 in face-off win percentage, and that showed Saturday night against Buffalo. Seeing nobody in the top 30 in that category for Dallas, it could be a long night for them (even before taking into account which Marty Turco will show up tonight).

On the subject of the PA, if Kelly announces his intentions by the end of the month, would that create an opening for Jersey and Philly and others to once again operate with overages? If the cap were to decline by a coupla million, it might not be prudent, but would the option be there?
Also, what are the chances that Lindros gets fired before the end of the season? Can he survive past the summer, if he doesn't?
When it comes down to a he said she said between Marty York and Al Strachan, you gotta go with the guy with the more annoying hand gestures, dontcha?

Hey Wysh, I pose the question, mow much trade value did "Kovie" (if you will) hold BEFORE the inept Don Waddell slapped the C on his sweater? (say that 5 times fast!)

I'm first at exclaiming a complete lack of a real life. Pathetic.. though not as pathetic as my wasting of time to complain about it..

Pretty darned close. 20 teams of 35 players each for a total of vitually every 4th liner in the league.
Mottau is my # 8 healthy blueliner and I'm trying to package him with other fantasy gems such as Matt Bradley, Chris Thorburn and Michael Peca, in exchange for an uber-studly checking line winger. Same thing I did to get Axelsson a few months ago (Frolik, Willsie, Chris Phillips and the seriously injured Steve Mason)

IT'S NOT HAPPENING. IT'S NEVER HAPPENING. GO TORCH A CAR OR SOMETHING IF IT MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER.
P.S. There's a reason the old Montreal Forum had chain-link fences put up around the sections where the hooligan types sat back in the 1940s.

I just scored last night with my former healthy scratch.
Prucha sat in my press box since October, but all of a sudden he netted me Chara (with a little help from Langenbrunner and Hamrlik).
Now my blueline is solid, hence the will to rid myself of Mottau.
