Here are your Puck Headlines: A glorious collection of news and views collected from the greatest blogosphere in sports and the few, the proud, the mainstream hockey media.

Note: Our hockey rumors live chat is ready to roll at 1:30 p.m. EST today. Be there!
• Evgeni Malkin(notes) of the Pittsburgh Penguins will miss 2-3 weeks with a shoulder injury, according to the team: "It is not the same injury that kept Malkin out of the lineup from the 2006 season and the team is being cautious." Awfully nice of Sidney to blow up offensively last night as Geno leaves for a bit; Pittsburgh's loss is Jordan Staal(notes) fantasy owners' gain. [Penguins]
• Is poor attendance at The Pond a factor in the Anaheim Ducks' sluggish start? Said Bobby Ryan(notes): "You notice that the noise isn't as loud and you can see there's not as much clutter in the stands. Other than that, I think the guys on the ice aren't focused on what's going on out there." [LA Daily News]
• Leksand IF, a Swedish ice hockey team, has issued an apology "after it was disclosed that its players jumped the queue for vaccinations against swine flu." Athletes jumping to the head of a line based on a sense of entitlement? Is this something we exported to Sweden in exchange for IKEA furniture? [Earth Times]
• It's entirely possible that Sami Salo(notes) is a mutant with Wolverine's healing powers. [National Post]
• The Buffalo Sabres make the obvious official, announcing that Tyler Myers(notes) will remain with the club instead of shipping off to juniors. Great news for the rest of the NHL, as Myers will now leave Buffalo as an overpriced free agent one year earlier than previously expected. [Sabres]
• Alexander Ovechkin tells Slava Malamud that it's not about the stats this season for the Washington Capitals star: "My goal this season is to get farther in the playoffs than last year. And I've already won the awards for top goal scorer and point leader. It's better to win something new." [Japers' Rink]
• James Mirtle provides needles for the Colorado Avalanche parade balloons. [From The Rink]
• Dominik Hasek(notes) says that a thigh injury is going to prevent him from flopping around like a 44-year-old fish in the 2010 Winter Games. Too bad ... we were really looking forward to a few more rounds of baseless speculation that he'd end up back in Detroit. [NHL]
• Patrick Hoffman has seen life without Marian Gaborik(notes) for the New York Rangers, and he doesn't like it. Like we've said since the signing: They need 65 games from Gaborik to make the playoffs. The good news is that the current ailments aren't the systemic ones from his past. [Goal Line Report]
• Chris Drury(notes) adapts to life as a third-line center. [NY Post]
• After dropping to 1-4 at The Rock, the question is asked: "What are the Devils doing wrong at home?" We haven't seen someone this uncomfortable in the middle of Newark since ... oh wait, yes we have. [Fire & Ice]
• Quietly, Petr Sykora(notes) has gone bust in Minnesota. [Puck Update]
• The Ottawa Senators will be without Anton Volchenkov(notes) for a few weeks with an elbow injury. [Silver Sevens]
• Toronto Argonaut co-owners Howard Sokolowski and David Cynamon are interested in bidding for the Phoenix Coyotes as a group separate from Ice Edge, which is another Canadian-led effort to purchase the team. How encouraging that the NHL has found solid local ownership groups interested in keeping the franchise alive in the desert. [Globe & Mail]
• Wait a second: The NHL refused to comment on a story in which the strength of the Canadian dollar is celebrated for solidifying hockey in Canada while putting southern U.S. markets on shaky ground? Go figure. [Toronto Star]
• An interesting look at Manitoba Moose GM Craig Heisinger and the manic life of trying to manage talent that flies in and out of the AHL. [Winnipeg Free Press]
• NHLPA internal affairs checks in with membership via email, explaining that they're looking into the firing of Paul Kelly as well as looking at "one member of the union's advisory committee was apparently working simultaneously as a paid consultant for the Tampa Bay Lightning, how internal emails were accessed by senior executives and how interim leader Ian Penny was able to negotiate a five-year, $3.5 million contract in June." [Snapshots, via TSN]
• Is there a TSN goalie poll curse, and has it claimed Roberto Luongo(notes)? [Sportress of Blogitude]
• Newsday goes behind a pay wall online, buries hockey in its print edition, and loses BD Gallof as a reader. [Hockey Independent]
• Wait, did Joe Pelletier actually just complain about there being too much hockey on television? [Greatest Hockey Legends]
• Finally, if you're not reading Bloge Salming, you deserve some cruel fate -- like living in a country where Jeff Finger(notes) is the secretary of defense. Here's their latest bit of Halloween-themed genius, featuring Brian Burke and Damien Cox:
