Here are your Puck Headlines: A glorious collection of news and views collected from the greatest blogosphere in sports and the few, the proud, the mainstream hockey media.

• Well, here's the coolest news all day: Joe Sakic will be back with the Colorado Avalanche this season, signing another one-year deal with the team. "Ultimately it came down to the fact that I still enjoy playing and competing," said Sakic in a press release. "I'm comfortable with my conditioning and my overall health. I'm ready for the start of camp and am looking forward to the upcoming season." Damn right. Your move, Sundin. [Colorado Avalanche]
• OK, maybe the second-coolest news: Someone vandalized the Philadelphia Flyers' Wikipedia page, turning them into a professional ... well, just see for yourself. [Out of Left Field]
• OK, maybe the third-coolest news: Leahy wonders if McFarlane Toys modeled their Vesa Toskala figure after his post-giving-up-a-197-foot-goal pose last season. [Going Five Hole]
• Defenseman Drew Doughty's chances with the Los Angeles Kings look pretty good, but can he turn into an elite player? [Inside the Kings]
• Kent from Five Hole Fanatics looks at the unsolved mysteries of the summer for the NHL, including the Kings' RFAs and the complete logjam for the Tampa Bay Lightning at forward. Please tell us David Koci will make the cut. Chara can't lose his sparring partner. [Five Hole Fanatics]
• Darren Eliot says the battle lines are drawn: The East is young and dynamic, and the West is old and physical. Pavel Datsyuk and Mike Komisarek aside, of course. [SI]
• The Hockey News presents the top 10 hockey names that make you hungry. And yes, this list is completely saved by the presence of Don Koharski. [THN]
• Canadian Broadcast Standards Council concludes that "showing hockey fights during game highlights and updates did not promote or exploit violence." It forgets to add that they're also wicked cool. [Kukla]
• Japers would like some help in decoding whatever it is Mike Toth of Sportsnet is talking about. [Japers Rink]
• Mark Messier's son Lyon Messier will participate in the Ranger's rookie tournament being held in Traverse City, Michigan. Wait ... Lyon Messier? Maybe we should have known this ... but seriously? [Illegal Curve]
• Finally, Dirk Hoag breaks down the biggest and smallest teams in the NHL this season. We believe the term for the Dallas Stars is "scrappy." [On the Forecheck]

Funny as it sounds, even when the Avs were giving the Wings all they could handle I never had any issues with Sakic. His attitude, skill, intensity....totally admirable - even wearing THAT jersey.
Didn't mean to sound smug...
I live many miles from Detroit. Never lived there, never will.

"Joe instructed me from the get-go to advise any team that inquired that he was either going to play for the Avs or retire," Baizley (Sakic's agent)said. "That's what I did. Even in situations where the teams said, 'Is there even any point in us making an offer?' Joe said tell them no."
