Here are your Morning Puck Headlines: A glorious collection of news and views collected from the greatest blogosphere in sports and the few, the proud, the mainstream hockey media.

• Yesterday's news that the New York Islanders will face the Los Angeles Kings in Kansas City next preseason has opened the floodgates for coverage of the team's struggle for a new arena on Long Island. In Kansas City, longtime hockey activist Paul McGannon offers some fightin' words: "New York has three teams. If they don't want to build a new rink in Long Island, we'll take their team. ... The New York Islanders have won four Stanley Cups (1980-1984). If we got the Islanders ... the last time I felt that good is when the Royals beat the Yankees in 1980 to go to the World Series." [KC Star]
• From Newsday: "Representatives for team owner Charles Wang said yesterday there's no plan to move the team, which reportedly loses more than $20 million a year. And the developers who, along with Wang, have proposed a massive project around a renovated Nassau Coliseum said yesterday that whether the team stays or goes isn't their concern. [Newsday]
• Point Blank has some good coverage, including words from Town of Hempstead supervisor Kate Murray. [NYI Point Blank]
• Hockey writer Steve Zipay has an interesting take, including thoughts that the New Jersey Nets and Islanders should share a new arena and some harsh words for Wang if he can't handle the losses or the wait: "He should sell the team to local investors who will contractually agree not to relocate unless certain financial targets aren't met." [Blue Notes]
• That said, Wang gets a ton of praise from Newsday for his "bold threat" against the Town of Hempstead. [Newsday]
• Finally on the Isles front, just to make sure yesterday was the greatest in New York Islanders history since getting swept by the Rangers in '94: Pierre LeBrun believes Rick DiPietro should shut it down, for the sake [ESPN]
• In their never-ending quest to reach heretofore unknown new levels of boring, the New Jersey Devils go curling. [NJ Devils and Fire & Ice]
• Washington Capitals defenseman Mike Green and some guy named Alexander Ovechkin at last night's Metallica concert. Man, those eyes on Green ... must have been a bright flash. [Japers Rink and DC Sports Bog]
• An interesting collection of mid-term NHL awards, from The Grocery Stick Trophy to The Metropolitan Award, "Given to the team that is most likely to blow their playoff spot." (Mets fans: "Ouch.") They're called "The Pointies," which quite frankly makes us think of something other than hockey. [The Good Point]
• Like Wendel Clark, former Detroit Red Wings brawler Bob Probert is in favor of the OHL's new helmet rule for hockey fights. Good enough for us. [Snapshots]
• Bruce Ciskie and FanHouse's spiffy new re-design wonder if Edmonton Oilers defenseman Sheldon Souray should be suspended for his fight against Craig Weller, because of a rule that calls for a suspension if a fighter "wearing tape or any other material on his hands (below the wrist) ... cuts or injures an opponent during an altercation." [FanHouse]
• Why Jason Blake's five-point game was a giant bird-flip to former Toronto Maple Leafs coach Paul Maurice. [Sports and the City]
• Battle of California offers a great preview of tonight's Anaheim Ducks/Pittsburgh Penguins game ... but honestly, they're getting a link because of all the Battlestar love. "Earth ..." [BoC]

• The Detroit-based sales for Fox Sports' e-commerce site must really suck. [H/T Puck Daddy reader Spencer]
• A very, very thorough review of the Phoenix Coyotes' surprising season thus far. Is Kyle Turris's nickname really K-Tizzle? [Bleacher Report]
• Owner David Checketts puts over St. Louis Blues rookies like Patrik Berglund and T.J. Oshie, and gives Coach Andy Murray yet another vote of confidence. [St. Louis Today]
• We're not going to pretend we know anything about ProTrade or the actual stock market, but evidently NHL stocks are a better buy than NCAA basketball. Who knew? [ProTrade]
• Our old buddy Joe McDonald re-designs NY Sports Day. [NYSD]
• Mirtle lays the smack down on our friend BD for posting under an assumed name. How very HockeyBuzz of him. [From the Rink]
• Finally, there was a lot we didn't know about this clip. Like who Linus Omark was, until we discovered he's an Oilers draft pick. Like the why the choice of music. But he do know this: SICK GOAL. Just sick:

Ugh, a move to KC would just mean another undeaopreciated team playing in front of a half filled house every week. Not much will change.

When the Isles move your headline can read "Ilses Fans Jerked Around by Wang!"
I think it has a nice ring to it... and it makes a nice companion to you "A.Peters in Mouth" headline...

You know, a hockey blog ought to be one of the last places we have, in terms of a shelter from gangsta speak ... That crap has to permeate every other aspect of our culture ... Hockey should remain the last bastion. Truly ... nobody singing on the radio can even pronounce basic words like "floor" anymore ... Now, its "flo", as in your Aunt. Make it stop!!!

Come on, curling is not boring. And it's not that easy, either. Maybe you should try it before passing judgment.

Well, now you've managed to anger fans of ABBA and Roxette. I'll miss those seven readers.

Curling is boring. I've watched it on TV enough to know. It's Canada's answer to golf, in the sense that you open a six pack and zone out.
And I don't have to try something to know it's boring. Case and point: I've never acted in a Terrance Malik film.

Just for fun though, lets pick the new team name for KC. Whether it be the Thrashers, Coyotes, Preds, someone is going there.
Kansas City Prairie Dogs
Kansas City Plains
Kansas City Explorers (Louis & Clark)
Kansas City Tornadoes
Anyone?

Just because I'm still here in the comments for this one -- please to be pointing out the Ovechkin references in the first four stories we posted today.
