Here are your Puck Headlines: A glorious collection of news and views collected from the greatest blogosphere in sports and the few, the proud, the mainstream hockey media.

• Schedule's gotten a little tight today, so Jersey Fouls and Rumors Chat (1:30 p.m. EST) in full effect for Thursday. Apologies, but more goodies on Puck Daddy later today.
• Reports are saying that Marian Gaborik(notes) is in doubt for the New York Rangers tonight against the New York Islanders; and that the leg injury he suffered this week could keep him out of Friday night's return to face the Minnesota Wild, which would be a total bummer. [Pioneer Press]
• Good piece on Chris Kunitz's(notes) struggles with the Pittsburgh Penguins that reveals the stat of the week so far: His last three goals came on St. Patrick's Day, April Fool's Day and Memorial Day weekend. Yes, the Pens play on Halloween, fantasy geeks. [Tribune Review]
• We will allow this Colorado Avalanche gloating to stand. For now. [Jerseys and Hockey Love]
• Looking at the Mike Richards(notes) and Rob Scuderi(notes) hits, and the Evgeny Artyukhin(notes) and Alexander Ovechkin slew foots, and wondering if there are double standards in the NHL. [Pens Universe]
• Corey Masisak of the Washington Times tweets: "Quintin Laing has the third conformed case of swine flu in the NHL, joining Petr Budaj and Ladislav Smid(notes)." All three were out with "the flu," which turned out to be THE flu. [@cmasisak22]
• The Oilers medical staff offered an H1N1 update on the team's Web site: ""People in the community will be affected by this flu and our players are not immune to this new virus. It's important to note that our player recovered in very short order and has since resumed playing." [Oilers]
• Fan-created New York Mets hockey jerseys. Because the Islanders shouldn't be the only thing on ice that's blue, orange and defeated. [Flickr, via UniWatch]
• Dmitry Kulikov(notes) will remain with the Florida Panthers this season. [Litter Box Cats]
• No matter how disappointing you think your struggling NHL team is, they haven't got anything on Modo Hockey, the Swedish powerhouse that's in last place right now in the Elite League. [Meltzer]
• Nice job by Jim Diamond of The Examiner in his piece on former Nashville Predators defenseman Greg de Vries(notes), who is waiting for a chance to play against as an unsigned free agent or ready for retirement. [Examiner, via On The Forecheck]
• Also great: The St. Pete Times on former Tampa Bay Lightning forward John Tucker, who is overcoming cancer. Dude never smoked or chewed tobacco and got throat and tongue cancer. World, you suck. [St. Pete Times, via Kukla]
• Pierre LeBrun with an in-depth look at the state of the KHL, including an interview with KHL president Alexander Medvedev. "Whether the KHL will ever turn a dime remains to be seen. Still, it seems clear that Medvedev, who also heads the Russian energy company Gazprom, is intent on seeing his vision through. He's taking on the NHL no matter who laughs at him." We have a rather interesting KHL piece of our own coming up later this week, that may or may not involve Borat. [ESPN]

• Really, it's the 18 ties that the Rangers are going to miss most about Gaborik if he's injured. [Stick tap to Puck Buddy Eric L.]
• Haven't watched it yet, but heard this ESPN E:60 piece on Theo Fleury(notes) was quite good. [ESPN]
• A Chicago-based sports consultant believes that Jerry Reinsdorf is not going to reenter the fray for the Phoenix Coyotes ownership, which makes sense: Once a marionette cuts its own strings, it's rather hard for the puppeteer to work it any more. [National Post]
• Beginning life without Paul Martin(notes) for a bit, the New Jersey Devils will have beat-up Mike Mottau(notes) and Colin White(notes) in their lineup against the Buffalo Sabres. [Fire & Ice]
• Jay Bouwmeester(notes) is quieter than mouse flatulence, but just loud enough for his Calgary Flames teammates. [Sun Media]
• The Gallofs bring their Rangers/Islanders sibling rivalry to Hockey Independent. Always a good time. [Hockey Independent]
• Remember that wackiness with the U.S. charter flights and Canadian teams? Some journalists covering the Ottawa Senators got caught up in it. [Ottawa Citizen]
• The Kurtenbloggers on penalties in the NHL. [KB]
• Finally, if you haven't seen it, Ryan Johnson(notes) of the Vancouver Canucks had a scary moment last night and was stretchered off the ice. It's a concussion for Johnson. Great to see a Detroit Red Wings player rush over to check on him. [Nucks Misconduct and Sportress of Blogitude]

Not saying he didn't do the right thing, but I don't think his intention was all daisies and bubble gum in the beginning.

Scuderi came in too low...he hit him just above the knee. I say anything mid thigh and above is fine. Fine seems fitting there.
Ovechkin slew foot: The guy wasn't injured, hence no suspension. But will concede that certain star players get more latitude than others. I'm just waiting for the day when Ov leaves his skates and really injures someone..he'd better get suspended..the guy charges people constantly.
The Roberts hit was "technically clean"..no suspension or fine as their is no current rule for hits to the head yet to my knowledge. I'm fine with that..mark my words though...guys who play like that get it back at some point...it's only a matter of time until we see Roberts being carried off or Ovechkin being boarded. pens universe..the robers hit was no different than kunitz's hit on timmonen in last years playoffs. both clean. let's just drop the puck and play now.

From one Pens fan to another: RICHARDS.
Know thine enemy.
Other than that, solid analysis. I concur. I think the league handled this week's selection of questionable hits as reasonably as they could. I know Scuds didn't mean it, he went low, slipped, and ended up hitting lower, still his responsibility. And Richards does a lot of Ruutu/Cooke/Avery type of crap, but that hit was solid and legal. Not nice, but legal.
