Here are your Evening Puck Headlines: A glorious collection of news and views collected from the greatest blogosphere in sports and the few, the proud, the mainstream hockey media.

Detroit Red Wings goalie Chris Osgood ... what a card. After hearing Matt Millen was fired by the Detroit Lions today, he said he'd consider taking over as general manager; adding the job to a wish list that includes spokesmodel for Bowflex. "I've got so much I want to accomplish before I'm 40." [Freep]

• The Buffalo Sabres put their "third jersey" logo at center ice. Just more salt on the slug. [Goose's Roost]

• Jeremy Jacobs apparently believes Milan Jurcina is still with the Boston Bruins, which explains a lot. [Stanley Cup of Chowder]

Alexei Kovalev will sit out tonight's exhibition game between the Montreal Canadiens and the Red Wings with what's been called a "light groin injury." For the Habs' sake, it better never become "wonky." For the record, he was penciled in to play with Robert Lang and Guillaume Latendresse. [TSN]

• Speaking of lines, a few interesting combinations from Dave Tippett during Dallas Stars camp: Morrow-Ribeiro-Brunnstrom and Modano-Richards-Lehtinen. [Dallas Stars Blog]

• Another interview with Jeremy Roenick that gets into the NHL 94/"Make Gretzky's head bleed!"/"Swingers" thing. One terrific moment, however, comes when Roenick is asked if the fighting in NHL 09 is realistic. "I fought Dion (Phaneuf) three times and I came out three for three. I don't know how realistic that is ..." [Das Gamer]

• Speaking of NHL 09, solid review of the game from Loser Chris. We should have our review of 2K9 for the Wii next week. [Taking One for the Team]

• Who the hell commissioned the Toronto Maple Leafs "Is This the Year?" commercial? [NHL Network]

• And should Ryan Hollweg be the new captain of the Leafs? [Ross's Blog]

• We were asked about a trade involving Mathieu Schneider and Bobby Ryan from the Anaheim Ducks during today's rumors chat. Now we now why, as Bob McKenzie floated the notion today. He also wonders if Matty will end up getting Malakhov'd. [TSN]

• Previewing tonight's tilt between the Flames and Coyotes in Winnipeg. Oh, and kudos to Gretzky for not backing down on those comments about bringing back the Jets. [Five Hole Fanatics]

• Good lord, couldn't they take a little of the chin for the Bruce Boudreau Bobblehead doll? The guy's not Ralph Friedgen. [OFB]

• When's the last time the Atlanta Thrashers had a day this good? Erik Christensen's shoulder MRI turned up negative. Young gun defenseman Tobias Enstrom signed a four-year extension with the team to avoid RFA status next summer. And Eric Perrin could be the solution for the top line with Ilya Kovalchuk and Jason Williams! OK, it can't all be good. [AJC]

• David Lee found an interesting change to the NHL's icing rules for this season. [Red and Black Hockey]

• Finally, The Pensblog found this video of an enterprising young fan lighting a Pittsburgh Penguins logo on fire. And it refuses. To. Burn. Mario rules! (A little NSFW language.)

In regards to the symbolism involving the Pens logo effigy... Umm... Does that mean that the Pens won't catch fire this year?...

..."I fought Dion (Phaneuf) three times and I came out three for three. I don't know how realistic that is ..."...
    Roenick: 6'3" 205lbs
    Phaneuf: 6'1" 215lbs
So the answer is not very realistic. There's no way Phaneuf fights someone whose equal his size.

Opened the door for a non-flammable-object-somehow-getting-hot-and-lighting-the competition up comment?...
    Hmm... OK... Apology accepted.

If you watched the whole video you would have seen that it does eventually catch on fire and stay lit.

    I agree, Rock...
But of course you understand that opening You Tube videos during slow periods at work isn't a very healthy career decision.... even when taken into consideration my boss actually encouraging her employees to (as safely as possible) surf the web during those same slow periods...
Forgive me for declining the video in favor of the written article.... still funny though.. :)

Ok, so the Pens eventually catch fire... would that be getting beat like a rug in the first two games of the Cup series, then playing decent enough to lose in 6 games? Just checking.
    Go Wings!

There is not fighting or blood in NHL 94. It is NHL 93 that this would have taken place. I actually hooked up my old Genesis the other day and played a little 94 with the Sabres line of Lafontaine, Mogilny and Hawerchuk. Ah the memories.

Ahhhh, the Genesis. Mine won't work anymore, and I can't find a power cord. But NHL 93, and 94 were a blast.
    LaFontaine!! LOL
As for the serious stuff....Ozzie would certainly do better than Millen. Hell, Ozzie could coach better than the current moron, he was hired by Millen. The Lions are a complete and total waste of time to watch. They're disgusting.
Kilpatrick?? Now thats funny. But I bet his girlfriend (not wife) is smarter than him, so let her have a shot at the job after Ozzie.
    Go WINGS!!!!

Just in!!! Ford CEO Mulally, announced appointment of a new VP in charge of North American Operations...some guy named Millen. Uh oh.
I'm sure that Ozzie has too much a sense of humor to accept being ()ions' GM. The ()ions is where GMs go to die, after being quite well compensated. Now assistant coaches? Let's see, Chuck Knox, Don Shula...weren't they ()ions assistant coaches at one time?
    Amazing.
