Puck Daddy - NHL

Here are your Evening Puck Headlines and Previews: A glorious collection of news and views collected from the greatest blogosphere in sports and the few, the proud, the mainstream hockey media.

• As of this evening, Patrick Kane is about 40,000 votes behind Jarome Iginla for the last final starting forward spot for the Western Conference All-Star Team. Chicago Blackhawks teammate Jonathan Toews is almost 90,000 votes off the pace. Perhaps it's time they stop sniping at each other in these slanderous campaign ads and focus on the issues! See the Toews response on Two-Line. [Two-Line Pass]

• Meanwhile, Kane gets the David Amber treatment on ESPN, and the most important quote is buried at the bottom of the Q&A: "To say we're a Cup team right now, I'd be lying to you. I think we're a couple of years away, but you never know what will happen with free-agent signings and trades." [ESPN]

Preview: Calgary Flames at St. Louis Blues (8 p.m. EST; TV: RSW, FSMW). Adrian Aucoin will be in the lineup for the Flames after getting banged up this week, but the big news is that T.J. Oshie is expected back for the Blues. He hasn't played since Nov. 1.

Preview: Vancouver Canucks at Minnesota Wild (8 p.m. EST; TV: RSW, KSTC). The Canucks are trying to avoid a five-game losing streak for the first time in about three years. Uh, hurry back Mr. Luongo.

• Remember AHL loose cannon Tim Conboy, who may have bitten an opponent this season during a fight? The Carolina Hurricanes had called him up. Good times are assured. [Canes Country]

• The Pittsburgh Penguins will be without Tyler Kennedy for 4-to-6 weeks with a bum knee. [Steel City Sports Fan]

Preview: Colorado Avalanche at Dallas Stars (8:30 p.m. EST; TV: FSSW). Mike Modano on the Sean Avery suspension, via Dallas Stars Blog: "You have to move on and start a new chapter, and that's kind of what we're planning on doing and working toward. As players, I think we've kind of washed our hands of the situation. After today, we're not going to discuss it or talk about it or him." Emphasis ours.

Preview: Edmonton Oilers at Los Angeles Kings (10:30 p.m. EST; TV: RSW, FSW). Erik Ersberg gets the start of the Kings, as Lubomir Visnovsky returns to Staples Center. According to the awesome Goalie Post, we should see Mathieu Garon start.

• The NHLPA promises to have Sean Avery's back because the NHL's punishment was "unprecedented both in its severity, as well as the process by which it was handed down."  [WEEI]

• Finally, from Mouthpiece Sports, a video that will allow you to connect Sean Avery to actor Chris Klein in six dating steps or less. Now you can win that bar bet.

What Patrick Kane really means is, ''this team isn't going anywhere until the front office decides to do something." Really Patrick, didn't you guys just get Brian Campbell and Cristobal Huet? They did their job, now do yours!

If getting Campbell and Huet is "doing the job" then Kane should be able to do his part in "winning a Cup" by scoring a hat trick one night, then going -2 with a brutal givaway the next?

Thank god Conboy is back. I've been getting hammered in the "Power-play Bites" category every week.

They had BETTER have his back. This whole incident post-remarks is a sham, and Gary Bettman should be taken to task for his incredibly wrong take on the whole matter.

huet and campbell cant make this team a cup team, when they didnt even make the playoffs last year. and anyways, huet hasnt even been the number 1 goalie this year. so i actually do agree with pat kane, they still need a few more players

The NHLPA can rant, rave, bluster and publicly bemoan Avery's suspension the fact of the matter is this just lip service. No way is Paul Kelly going to draw a line in the sand over Sean Frick'n Avery.

Who the bloody hell is Chris Klein? If we're gonna get Mouthpiece Sports clips, I demand they include either Sarah Spain and Jillian Jesk, if not both.

A follow-up to `green' zambonis, from the centre of the universe:

I find the video funny because the mayor of a city of 4 million calls a press-conference to showcase new zambonis. Although that huge rink is right oustide the hideous city hall, so they may as well have a press conference.

Wow, hockey players are good-looking on average I think, but he brings the average way down. Kennedy's head on Commodore's body is a black hole of aesthetics.
Actually, naming your kid tyler kennedy is a bad omen:

Could you date a chick that had been there??? I mean my god...its worse than her having AIDS for gods sake. Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww. I dont approve of Human-Douchebag inter-douche-ial dating. Ladies think about this!! For every guy, every where.......ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. Girls no man will have you now. Hot wont matter. Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww. He's right we dont want Douchey Seconds!!!
As for Kane and Toews..............boys do something before you start lookin to be an Allstar. Duh you doofools....its the All Star game. You are who???? Kane at least appears in the scoring stats. Toews.............who?????
Wyshynski I dont care....call me a douchiast....but inter-douche-ial dating is wrong and it stinks!!!

Toews has 13 points in his last 12. What more do you want?
Those campaign ads are hilarious. They had one for Campbell at the last home game bashing Kane and Toews.
