Puck Daddy - NHL

Here are your Weekend Puck Headlines: A glorious collection of news and views collected from the greatest blogosphere in sports and the few, the proud, the mainstream hockey media.

R.J. Umberger said that Pittsburgh Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury has "probably the most confidence" he's seen in him "from the AHL until now." Can the Philadelphia Flyers figure out a way to rattle him like they turned Carey Price into a festering pool of JELL-O in the previous series? Or can that only happen inside the friendly confines of the Wachovia Center? In other news, please shave, Sidney. You look like the singer in the boy band that's supposed to be from "the streets." [Philly.com]

• Looking at the animosity between John Stevens and Michel Therrien from back in their AHL days. [Canadian Press]

Guessing the suspension for Mike Ribeiro after his two-handed slash on Chris Osgood of the Detroit Red Wings. Since the NHL has what appears to be a 10-to-1 ratio of regular season suspended-games to postseason suspended-games, this should be a one-gamer. Then again, Waiting for Stanley believes he shouldn't even receive any suspension at all because Osgood goaded him into it: "Be a man and own up to the stick job you put on Ribeiro! Gutless puke."

• Is Patrick Roy the next coach of the Colorado Avalanche? Better question: Will his son be hired as either a goalie fight coordinator or to rap the team's official theme song? [Avs Talk]

Buffalo Sabres managing partner Larry Quinn has made it clear that the team won't be sold to anybody who might relocate the franchise. But it's not exactly up to the owners; if the NHL wants hockey in Buffalo, it'll stay in Buffalo. [The Buffalo News]

• Larry Brooks believes it's time for the New York Rangers to stop playing hardball and get serious about re-signing Sean Avery. Because it's going to be very difficult for him to get time off from Vogue for salary negotiations this summer. [NY Post]

• Jacques Lemaire says he'll return to coach the Minnesota Wild next season, and admits something rather interesting: Some of his players completely tuned him out during a rough spot back in February. [Twincities.com]

• Going to Disney World and discovering the obvious: That the Stanley Cup Finals are dead to Orlando. [Wild Puck Banter]

• Finally, the Flyers could turn to Steve Downie tonight, Max Talbot is back for the Penguins, and Flyers Goal Scored By offers a rather funny look at the top only five commercials on Versus.

That was an awful call on the replay. You could see white between the line and the puck.

Even with video replay the old farts that call NHL games still can't get it right. Pitt scored the goal but this is typical of how the NHL operates. More games in the NHL are decided by biased calls than by fair play.

Hey you and I know it was "probably" in. But how can you seriously say you saw white when his glove was covering it before crossing the line? We in Philly know bad calls in these playoffs this year, but conclusive evidence was NOT shown. LET'S GO FLYERS!!!!!

yeah talk about fair calls. malkin cheap shots briere right in front of refs and call a penalty on hatcher seconds later. if they are gonna let the pens play like that i hope downie AND cote are both in next game. see how the pens like that!

Flyers fans don't want the refs to call a fair game only to call a game in their favor....calls go both ways when you are faced with adversity GREAT teams find a way to win....PERIOD...........

The Flyers have to Win 4 times and only allow the Pens to win once.....thats a tall order concidering the pens are winning at a 10-1 pace i doubt they will lose at a 4-1 pace to turn that around. Wings v Pens in the Finals....The Series goes 6 games

How is it cherry picking when you get checked hard and the player skates away and forgets about him? Oh wow, lets run up the ice and forget about one of the best players on the team. The Flyers deserved getting that goal scored against them. GO PENS!

Marc-Andre Fleury.... 24-3-1 since NOVEMBER!!!!!!!!!!!! he has been unbeliveable. The pens have played sloppy for the most part this series in the offensive zone. The Flyers have nothing started on the PP after two games with most of their time spent in the defensive and neutural zones. 5-5 edge would go 60% Pens 40% Flyers. PP for the Penguinis has been decent but nowhere as close to as good as it can be. Flyers have the series coming home and they should get a huge boost from their fans as they have the rudest and some of the loudest fans in the NHL. If the Flyers do not win both game 3 and 4 this series is done and over.

Even the morons in Philly knew that was a goal but the outdated NHL rulebook says that it has to be conclusive evidence. Why not put small cameras on the post instead of just in the back of the net.
Hatcher is still a slow overrated pile of fodder.
    RJ Hamburgler ............Who?
Briere looks loke a scared sissy running for his life too.
    Biron or MORON?
Philly just sucks end of story.
    This Cinderella ride is over.
Besides, what kind of final would it be Philly vs. Red wings..........Please.
Philly will be lucky to win a game let alone 4.
