Here are your Morning Puck Headlines: A glorious collection of news and views collected from the greatest blogosphere in sports and the few, the proud, the mainstream hockey media.

• New Jersey Devils goalie Martin Brodeur will have "surgery Thursday morning to repair a torn distal biceps tendon in his left elbow and will miss three to four months," according to beat writer Tom Gulitti. And we're reaching for the whiskey starting ... now. [Fire & Ice]
• Lil Wayne, celebrity puckhead: "If there isn't a college football game or an NBA game, right now I'd watch hockey. I'd watch hockey over an awards show." [ESPN The Magazine]
• The Ottawa Senators are aware of the perfect storm headed their way tonight: A Washington Capitals team coming off an awful loss and getting Alexander Ovechkin back in the lineup. [Ottawa Sun]
• Mike Modano reportedly clears the air with his Dallas Stars teammates after some scathing criticism this week. [TSN]
• Y! Sports Blogs present presidential tickets for every major sport. For the NHL, it's the Iginla/Chelios and Melrose/Cherry campaigns. [Y! Sports Blogs]
• Will Mats Sundin's decision on where to play this season define his legacy? And here we thought being an over-praised player without a Stanley Cup ring, who has been elevated to god-like status by the Toronto media machine, would be his legacy. Silly us. [THN]
• New York Rangers legend Harry Howell says it's time to drop the instigator rule: "Nobody took liberties with Darryl Sittler when Dan Maloney was on the ice." [Toronto Sun]
• James Murphy splits up the NHL into three political parties and asks you to cast your votes. [Inside Hockey]
• "Forever Faithful: The Canucks Movie" is a documentary about the Vancouver fan experience that will be shown in theaters one time before hitting DVD. "If you're going to make a doc about the culture of Vancouver hockey fans, a season that ends in disappointment and trauma is probably the perfect dénouement." [Canucks and Beyond]
• The Los Angeles Kings have a big fan in Anaheim Ducks VP Brian Burke: "Dean Lombardi's done a wonderful job. That's a special group of young players. That's going to be a hell of a team. He knows exactly what he's doing and he's building a pyramid." Hey, just like Egyptian slaves! [Inside the Kings]

• Chris Osgood and Ty Conklin don't currently have Vezina-worthy numbers for the Detroit Red Wings this season. Since some consider goaltending the only potential Achilles' heel for the defending Stanley Cup champion, Osgood has decided to get ahead of the story with this rejoinder: Stats, schmats. [Snapshots]
• Not exactly hockey-related, but an interesting article by Darren Rovell about the political leanings of professional sports owners -- in light of the GOP-influenced campaign events we've seen in the NHL this season. [CNBC]
• Kyle Wellwood has gone from the butt of fat jokes to the subject of a Photoshop tribute celebration. [Waiting for Stanley]
• Finally, at least the Colorado Avalanche won something last night: Cody McLeod landed more than a few bombs on Adam Burish of the Chicago Blackhawks.

Despite being the king of Saturday nights in Eastern Canada, Sundin has a whopping total of zero NHL trophies, and has never played in a Stanley Cup Finals game. Most career regular season overtime winners is a great record, but he certainly is nowhere near the top of the list in playoff OT winners.
His biggest accomplishment will go down as captaining Sweden to gold at the 2006 Olympics, and that's about it.

Whooh, let's hear it for your 2009-2010 Devils, because the 2008-2009 Devils are pretty sunk right about now. Unless the reunion tour continues and we can get Chico out of the booth. (Wait a second, never mind. I meant to say Scott Stevens and Ken Daneyko.)

as for these western conference rumors, they mean nothing to me until i hear a statement coming out of sundin's mouth. besides, even if he makes the move to the west, i will still respect him here in toronto. his legacy won't be tainted, i can assure you.
i think he deserves a stanley cup, and the maple leafs cannot offer that to him right now. that's why i can't blame him for making this tough decision.

Nah, I can't commit suicide. I have at least three more posts today. Then I'll consider it.
