(Ed. Note: We're live blogging every hour of the NHL trade deadline until its completion at 3 p.m. EST. Older time-stamped entries are found at the end of the post. Visit here for a primer on our Milbury Scale for rating trades.)

2:54 p.m. EST. Milan Jurcina(notes) goes back to the Washington Capitals from the Columbus Blue Jackets. We've been saying that the Caps needed a big, veteran presence on their blue line. We just figured it would be one that didn't already have a jersey waiting for him at Verizon Center.
Meanwhile, Bob McKenzie of TSN reports that defenseman Dan Hamhuis(notes) of the Nashville Predators is not being traded. Sigh.
2:26 p.m. EST. Woo! Raffi Torres(notes) trade!
Michael Peca(notes) on TSN called Torres a game-changer, and that's a stretch. But for a second-round pick and defenseman Nathan Paetsch(notes), that's a pretty darn good trade right there for the Buffalo Sabres. Adds grit, some goals and at the right price. Two Milburys!
2:04 p.m. EST. OK, seriously: WHERE THE HELL IS THE RAFFI TORRES TRADE?
We've seen every role player and depth defenseman within two months of unrestricted free agency traded today. But Raffi Torres, pretty much the only player everyone agreed would be traded today? Nada. Which could be an indication that the insane demand of a No. 1 pick for the services of a pending UFA forward is slowing this one from happening.
CSNNE's Joe Haggerty believes the Boston Bruins are very much in on Raffi:
Torres would give the Bruins another forward with offensive potential, and a guy that might be able to skate with Marc Savard(notes) on the top line for the rest of the season. He might not light the fire of every fan in the Hub of Hockey who hasn't caught his act in Edmonton or Columbus, but Torres, 28, would share the team lead in goals with Marco Sturm(notes) this season. Torres is on pace for 24 goals this season, and scored 27 goals for Edmonton in 2005-06.
Meanwhile, Calgary Flames backup goalie Curtis McElhinney(notes) is traded to Anaheim for ... Vesa Toskala(notes)? Whoa.
