Puck Daddy hockey rumors live chat

Two of the more intriguing waiver wire victims during yesterday's great preseason purge were Kyle McLaren of the San Jose Sharks and Mark Bell of the Toronto Maple Leafs.

McLaren has some legitimate trade value, despite his cap hit ($2.5 million). Bell, as Ray Slover of The Sporting News reports, is a more curious and ultimately depressing case: A player who went from a drunk driving accident to being a "scrub, a fourth-liner most nights and a frequent scratch." Does anyone out there want a dormant power forward, who is a pending UFA with a $2.167 million cap hit?

Waiver wire fodder, surprises like the Pittsburgh Penguins sending down Janne Pesonen, Brendan Shanahan, Nikolai Khabibulin, last-minute moves for teams like the New York Rangers and the Los Angeles Kings ... so much to discuss as the season finally gets rolling.

Thank the Hockey Gods we have Lyle "Spector" Richardson of Fox Sports and David "Dave" Pagnotta of The Fourth Period to figure it all out for us little brains. Chat starts at 1 p.m. EDT. Bring the funny.

I don't see how McLaren hit the waiver wire is intriguing. It doesn't come as a surpise at all given the number of injuries he has and how deep the Sharks are on the blue line this year. As a Sharks fan, I wish him the best of luck in the future.

Wyshynski what kind of serious questions do you expect from people at home on the internet at 1pm on a workday? If the purpose of this chat was to be informative it failed.

    wysh,
forget the user's questions. you guys know the rumors floating around, just discuss them and analyze them with the best of your knowledge. i've attempted to submit serious rumor questions during the chat but instead only people who are posing as a player or sarah palin get their stupid comments posted!

Every scout in the NHL is out there tonight, with contracts in their pockets, and they're looking for talent. For winners. OOOOOOOOOH. All my years of publicity. All the fashion shows and radiothons for nothing... They come here tonight... to scout the Chiefs... the toughest team in the Federal League! Not this! Buncha... [profane]."

Matt S, what does Sarah Palin have to do with these hockey discussions? You've torn a page out of PISH's retarded playbook, good luck with that. Bell will be back on the Leafs, or possibly on another NHL team soon, just you wait. I'd like to see you go to jail PISH and be exactly the same way before you went in. By the way, though it isn't saying much, Bell scored the last Leafs goal to end the season, and it was a really good goal. He will be back.
