Sometimes, Puck Daddy reader art contests are intentional, like our Gary Bettman: Portraits in Heroism gallery. Other times, they're organic, like Gloating Bruins Fan, in which the Photoshops started to trickle into the inbox and then, for whatever blissfully deranged reason, the floodgates opened.
Well, it's happened again. The iconic, celebratory roar from Sidney Crosby(notes) of the Pittsburgh Penguins after scoring the "golden goal" for Team Canada against the U.S. has sparked the imagination of the Puck Buddies. Scotty Hockey sees Sid preparing to sweep the leg. Others have cast him as Wookies, gladiators and other aggressively ferocious images. One guy had a pile of gold medals and a sex toy emerging from Crosby's nether regions. Sadly, we're unable to run that one.
So thus begins the next great Puck Daddy reader art contest: The Sidney Crosby Golden Roar gallery. Our friend Bangin Panger offers a "clean slate" version of the roar, but there are plenty of other photos out there.
Deadline for submissions will be next Wednesday, March 10, at noon EST. Email your entries to email@example.com. Prizes? Of course. But in true PD fashion, we have no idea what they are. Details to follow in the first Sid Roar gallery.
Start 'shoppin', people. But please, no raptors. We have that covered, thanks to CJ:
