Puck Daddy Hockey Rumors Live Chat

The venerable Stan Fischler believes that Marian Hossa will be "the most overpaid-underachieving unrestricted free agent" this summer. Then again, he also thinks Barry Melrose has "a bit of Tom Hanks" in him, when we all know that's actually Rita Wilson's gig.

At 1 p.m. EDT, Puck Daddy hosts its weekly rumors, scuttlebutt and innuendo chat with Lyle "Spector" Richardson of Fox Sports and The Hockey News, and Dave Pagnotta of TheFourthPeriod.com. We're scheduled to discuss Hossa, Mats Sundin, the Toronto Maple Leafs' moves, Jaromir Jagr, Brian Campbell, Wade Redden, Markus Naslund and 1,000 other players who could be in a new city by next week.

Bring us your questions, queries and speculation. And, as always, make with the funny whenever possible. Enjoy.

I heard that Naslund is the prime canidate to replace Hossa. That also leaves room to sign Brooks.

I hear the Bruins want Hossa and it makes me sick. Why would we have gotten rid of Joe Thornton, who is one of the best and in his prime for 3 San Jose rejects only to waste loads of money on Hossa? Then we're trying to compensate by signing Savard and now Hossa? Savard is pretty good, but Hossa? He's way overrated! Please Chiarelli, go out and sign a puck moving defenseman like Brian Campbell or Wade Redden, not a pre-madonna who doesn't give a crap about the game or the fans.

kj, i havent heard anything on naslund wanting to go to Pittsburgh. Im sure though Shero wouldnt mind having him as long as he stayed healthy because he is a natural scorer. Do you all think Hossa will go to a cup contender like Detroit or go to where the money is at like Vancouver or even Chicago??

Just what we need in NY, another older player. Sundin and Jagr may make a good tandem, BUT, at what expense? I want to see some of our younger guys make it up to the big club and NOT overpay for aged players looking for a fat paycheck.
As for Campbell, too much money for him too. Bring up Sanguinetti and let him develop on the big stage like Staal.
Save the money for Kovalchuk NEXT SEASON

No wonder Campbell wants to go back east, he is too small for the west. Dallas and Calgary exposed his weakness on defense and didn't give him any room to move the puck. He was invisible in the playoffs. Sharks would be better off letting him go and pick up Redden for about $2M less...

After seeing what Tyler Dellow posted the other day, I think the Flames have already replaced Huselius -- with Cammalleri. Now they need to replace Tanguay.

Let Hossa stay in the grappy Eastern Conference anyways. Really, does it matter who signs anybody in that conference?

The HAbs will sign Sundin and Hossa of course. We will be the "team" in the East. We will win the Stanley Cup just like Gainey has been planning all along.

Hossa is a great player, but he isn't worth what he thinks he's worth. When you are on a line with the best passer in hockey "Crosby" (here comes a Detroit fan to piss on my parade and make an ignorant comment.) it's easy to look good. He isn't the type of player who can take over a game, he needs someone to feed him the puck and he won't do nearly as well this coming season as the "star of the show" for some inadequately equipped team.

First off, Hossa is not WAY overrated. Maybe somewhat overrated, but he is an extremely good player. Secondly, whomever stated that the Pens need someone young to play next to crosby, and not a veteran like Naslund, is way off base. The Pens have plenty of young players, and inexperience was the main reason they fell short to Detroit in the finals.
