When tickets to a Stanley Cup Playoff series that may involve their team go on sale, Pittsburgh Penguins fans are going to know about it. Please recall the 2000 postseason, when the threat of a Pens fan invasion in D.C. forced Washington owner Ted Leonsis to implement a plan that prevented them from purchasing tickets online for Capitals' playoff home games.

On Wednesday, the Detroit Red Wings began a presale for Stanley Cup Finals tickets that required a special code. And guess who just happened to discover that code: The good folks of the LetsGoPens.com boards, who began crowing about the quality tickets they were scoring for Finals games in Detroit. Well, at least with all of these Penguins fans filling seats at the Joe, Mitch Albom won't have anything to complain about.

While a Detroit/Pittsburgh Stanley Cup Final still seems like a foregone conclusion at this point -- The "Every 33 Years" Campaign be damned -- there's someone seemingly determined to jinx the hell out of both of them. Shop.com already screwed the Penguins in Game 4 by releasing Eastern Conference Champions hats before what could have been the clincher in Philly. Well, the Web site was selling a full wardrobe of conference championship gear for the Pens and the Red Wings as of Friday night. Even up 3-1, you do not want to anger the Hockey Gods. No sir, you sure don't.

this is the new hockey...Bettman style...the guy has ruined the sport....Maybe next year we can take away the blue lines and make the nets bigger!.that should speed up the game and draw more fans!
Then we can add more expansion teams! We could sell hats and jerseys commemorating each win in the regular season!

I think I join all wings and Pens fans in saying "this is NOT GOOD"!
If I were a Flyers or Stars fans I'd snap those up! What a great souvenir if your team wins four straight!

There's not a single member of the Pens or Wings "looking at tomorow". Why should the fans?!

I can see printing the stuff up,or having it ready for release........but for god's sake dont release it in any way shape or form cuz thats just asking for trouble...all the teams involved are only looking at one game at a time, ask any member of any of the final four and they'll all say "we gotta win the first period, then we gotta win the second period, and if all goes well close out and win the third period and the game".......or somethin of that nature

Wings look SLUDGY today...could be the ridiculous amount of interference going on...no wonder why most people don't like to watch hockey. Am I the only person in the world that longs for the days of 9-7 playoff hockey games?

it's one thing for a player to get ahead of himself and possiblely make a stupid comment, or a local newspaper for a team to give an opponent fuel for thier fire, but pre-selling championship items (for any sport, at any phase of thier playoffs) is just dumb. there is a reason they play the games, ask the ny giants. while yes if you're gambling in vegas you will probably want to bet on a pens/wings cup series, thats not a bad idea, but you still know in the back of your mind there's that chance, thats the chance fans watch for and want to see, it's why we love underdogs, and what makes the thrills worth while.

OMG- out played again. I'm starting to get that old feeling.....Oh well, if we get beat, then we're not the best team, and I'll watch Dallas play for the cup. Hockey's , hockey.enjoy it. BTW the tripping call in the first period. It doesn't matter if you touch the puck first, and then trip the player, or just trip him. Tripping is tripping. In the old days, if you touched the puck first, it was OK. Not any more!! I have the Center Ice Package, so I see a lot of games. The trouble I have is sometimes they call it, sometimes they let it go. (smaller print than usual) Go Wings !!

Not very bright, selling championship gear before it's time. Seems to me greed is still alive and well. I wonder if it took a PHD to make that decision. As for the people who buy it, a fool and his money are soon parted. Get a grip and enjoy the game. I've been waiting 16 years for this, and some assbag has gone and jumped the gun.

Cut the pre-sale crap it's bad kharma pure and simple. I'll bet it's a Flyer fan behind this nonsense! Win 4 games then print up T-shirts, the only ones worth buying though are if the Pens win it all. Conference Champ garb really is on the First Runner-up level. Of course if I were a Chicago Cubs fan I'd snatch up any item commemorating ANY kind of Title! Sorry Cubs like you guys...but... anyway.
To NEEL, if you would like to see a 9-7 Hockey game, watch the All-Star game, that's about the final score every year isn't it?

As for buying tickets, that's not a big deal, certainly worst case scenario you could sell them..course I'm not sure how Detroit gets away with selling G1 tickets when they're not officially booked to host G1??? Guarantee it's some non-sports fan money grubbers behind that, they figure they can earn interest on the $$$ selling now. Bad idea Dude

I'm not a Flyers fan by any stretch but what a kick in the cluster that is.Whoever the a$$clown was that came up with that idea should have to sell that $hit on the streets of Philly and Dallas......today..right now.I'm counting the hours to game time and believe that game 5 is the Flyers last one this year but to disrespect that team and the Stars like that is just plain wrong.

haha "Hockeytown" sux. at the same time, fans of any team that are that overconfident deserve to get what's coming to them... a series loss before their team even gets there. I'm still hoping for a Stars vs. whomever final, but I'm hard pressed to ever cheer for Philly. still, Pens fans are proving they're not much better

I dont care who you are or what sports you play, you never sell that stuff before they win the thing. Stupid and ridiculous. I think it would be hilarious if all of the Stars and Flyers wore the Wings and Pens Championship jerseys into the games and under their uniforms. I know hockey players are too classy for that, but that would provide even more motivation.

Wow the Pens defensemen sure are making a big difference today. Are the Pens gonna score 6-7 goals today? Totally possible vs. the hole in the wall Biron and porous defense. I love it. GO PENS!!!!!!!!!
