Puck Daddy - NHL

Like the old man in "A Christmas Story," we're fiends for turkey. If the Bumpas's dogs attempted to steal our bird, we're Phaneuf'ing those four-legged bastards.

From the first Deviled Egg to the last leftovers sandwich (turkey, stuffing, light mayo and white bread) after midnight, Turkey Day is gastronomical bliss. It's a glorious time for family and friends, even if it means watching the Lions.

That said, Puck Daddy will still be humming during this festive holiday week, with the Three Stars recap publishing each morning. Wednesday is a regularly scheduled broadcasting day, including our Hockey Rumors Live Chat at 1 p.m. EST. Turkey Day will feature a special Thanksgiving-themed post. Friday through Sunday will have sporadic posts featuring Puck Headlines and our typical brand of whimsy.

Eat, drink, be merry. Thanks for reading, and happy holiday. Discuss: Favorite Thanksgiving dish?

Gotta love the dark meat on the turkey, but being from an Italian family, we have had both turkey and lasagna for dinner. Call me Garfield, but I go apeshart over lasagna. Absolutely fantastic.

    LIGHT mayo!?
Light mayo is not very masculine, especially for a guy who calls himself Daddy.

    @ Yvan L -
Light in the sense where is a light schmear of real mayo -- not Light Mayo. Sorry.

Pumpkin pie. Here's my question.... why is pumpkin flavoring only popular from late September thru early December? Why can't I get a pumpkin bagel at Einstein's in May? wtf

If I was a forward, I'd love "Big Turkey" Turco the most. I wouldn't even need to dish it, cause he just serves it on a platter every night.
And Wysh, how much do you think Flopsie flinches every time someone rips apart a wing? I mean, he's sitting at the table with a roast turkey and a Delissio pizza, and one of his guests goes for that left wing, and just pulls it apart. Yanks it in two. Does he just go into the bathroom and sob a little?

Cranberry Sauce, Ocean Spray, no junk in it. Straight from the can, ridges and all. The in-laws know enough at least to get my son and I a can and let everybody else have the kinds with the roughage in it.

I like a little green bean caserole, some hot dinner rolls, and a nice sweaty glass of Johnnie Walker Black on the rocks. Of course depending how the Caps do before and after turkey day (both are home games, thank you Santa!) it might be a strictly liquid dinner. I'm looking in your direction Theo...

and I realize thanking Santa for something that happens around Thanksgiving seems a bit unusual but come on, we all know the two have bled into each other to make one giant drunken holiday food fest followed by the obligatory remorse of another season gone by without really getting anything accomplished. Tis the season!

I had a Krusty Burger for Canadian Thanksgiving this year.
I was also able to find one of those pre-made sandwiches made of just stuffing in Dublin. It was a little dry.

Wonder how Scut Farkas would be on D?
Oh and it's the Bumpuses' hounds that you refer to.
(Yes, I'm a closet Christmas Story freak. Tomorrow I'll have a plate full of green bean casserole and a slab of pumpkin cheesecake and turn on my mini version of the "major award" lamp and watch my dvd.)
