MONTREAL -- It's Mission: Impossible to get one of the top picks in the NHL Draft to reveal which teams they would love to have select them and which teams they dread snagging them. So we decided to employ a little sneaky psychology, and asked a few of the top picks in the 2009 Draft what their favorite NHL jersey is ... and what their least favorite NHL jersey is.

Here are John Tavares, Victor Hedman, Evander Kane, Scott Glennie, Jared Cowen and Matt Duchene on the best and worst sweaters. And to think: We were just starting to like that Duchene kid ...

Plenty of draft coverage today, and other goodies. Make sure you're following us on Twitter for the latest developments and random musings.

Trade scuttlebutt of the morning: Phil Kessel(notes) to the Toronto Maple Leafs for Tomas Kaberle(notes) and Toronto's No. 7 pick in the draft? The Boston Bruins would be doing quite well for themselves there should that go down ...

First I've heard on that trade - big rumours in Toronto have Burke talking to the Stars about Kaberle. Can't see the Leafs giving up their 7th pick unless Kessel is a flip for a higher pick. The media here have finally given up on the Tavares quest and are now focusing on uniting the Schens.

    @ Phil Wood --
Like I said above -- Kaberle AND the pick would be a coup for the B's.

Who can hate the Devils jersey unless they just have a hate for the team...which may have been the point of this little project. If anything, it's just bland and non-offensive.
Now if he's talking about the old Christmas trees...well he's gotta point.

The answers were as politically correct as one could expect. Those kids are trained to not say anything! The Blackhawks were predictable, as it is generally lauded. Tavares, even considering the quickness of his answer, circumvented the heat as he went with an obsolete jersey (Nashville's freak yellow)...
I hope the weather will allow you to watch some skirt ! haha

Kessel isn't worth Kaberle. Kessel is small, soft and defensively challenged. He scored 36 (and a paltry 24 A I believe) playing with one of the premier set-up men in the league. How many would he get with Grabovski as his C? Lee Stempniak numbers? What would his plus/minus be on the Leafs? There has to be something significantly more coming from the Boston end or Burke is stupider than even I thought.

If they had any sense of humor at all they could have thrown out something like, "Well, for me, there will never be another jersey like Quebec's."

And incidently the Nordiques jersey is a gem. Just my opinion.

The Wild jerseys are AWFUL. Vancouvers are pretty lame too.
    Most 3rd jerseys suck.

@Noah T -- I agree, the look in Duchene's eyes said he was messin' with Wysh.
Nobody mentioned the Rangers because they probably forgot they exist.

Evander Kane saw this one coming a mile away...because he's from Vancouver, home of the history's worse jersey ever.
As an aside, Kane played his youth hockey at one of the great minor hockey programs in the world (other alumni include Sakic, Kariya, Hull and many more). Then he won a Memorial Cup with the Vancouver Giants, and played for Canada's gold metal junior team.
Part of what sucks about the NHL right now is that guys like Kane (or Rick Nash, or Bowmeester) end up in places like Atlanta (or wherever). How good would a guy like this be for the NHL if he played somewhere where people cared? Look at what P. Kane and Toews have done for Chicago.
Manta for NHL health? (I know you asked) CONTRACTION! INCLUDING BETTMAN!

Worst jersey has to be Atlanta's. Off all time it is those hideous V pattern Vancouver ones.
I was suprised none of them said the Habs.
