Easy call here on a light night (one game) in the NHL. In overtime, on a delayed call against the Phoenix Coyotes, Zetterberg controlled the puck and passed to Ruslan Salei(notes) near the left point. The veteran defenseman waited and fired a shot that Zetterberg tipped through Ilya Bryzgalov(notes) for the 3-2 overtime victory. Watch it here.
No. 2 Star: Ilya Bryzgalov, Phoenix Coyotes
The Coyotes keeper made 37 saves against the Red Wings, including a few robberies, in a losing effort in Detroit. It was the fourth game this season in which Bryzgalov faced over 40 shots.
The captain blasted a shot from the left point at 7:24 of the third period, using a screen to beat Bryzgalov and tie the game at 2-2. He was second on the Wings in ice time with 22:25.
Honorable mention: Danny Cleary(notes) had
the other goal for the Red Wings. ... Martin Hanzal(notes) and Keith Yandle(notes) had the
Phoenix goals. ... Jimmy Howard(notes) made 29 saves for the win. ... Brian Rafalski(notes)
finally returned from injury for the Wings, picking up an assist on Cleary's
Dishonorable mention: The teams were a combined 0-for-7 on the power play. ... Oliver Ekman-Larsson(notes) and Adrian Aucoin(notes) were a minus-2 for Phoenix. ... Lee Stempniak(notes) earned two interference penalties, both involving Howard. ... Finally, night's with only one NHL game stink, even if it's out of respect to the Hockey Hall of Fame Class of 2010. Congrats.
