The New York Rangers' former alternate logo married to the Florida Panthers' leaping cat is something out of a child's nightmare about being lost in Manhattan. The Washington Capitals/Toronto Maple Leafs logo … well, isn't really all that bad. Plus Backstrom would make a hell of a center for Kessel.

These images were from this page of NHL logo mash-ups which was found over on Reddit, where comments have ranged from "You blasphemous bastard" to "Where was the Canadiens Bruins logo that I was hoping for?"

About 28 current and defunct NHL teams are included, with some of the art veering off into New York Islanders relocation baiting: Witness the Kansas City and Winnipeg entries.

But many of them are just odd little variations of NHL logos and mascots, such as these examples:

The CanadiWings would have won about 40 percent of the Stanley Cups since 1915. Meanwhile, pictured right, is Brooks Orpik(notes).
