The Tampa Bay Lightning are clearly warping impressionable young minds with their perverted hockey practice reindeer games.

The Idaho Junior Steelheads have been temporarily banished from a Boise public ice rink for participating in a "naked shootout," like the one that saw Martin St. Louis(notes) (pictured here) slowly removing layers of clothing with each missed shot last week.

The stunt got under the skin of city officials; and according to the Associated Press, the team is forbidden from using the Idaho Ice World for four days, with a 17-year-old player suspended for until next week. Lesson learned: Don't play naked shootout when there are young girls and angry fathers nearby.

Oh, it gets better: The police are involved, because one of the players mooned another when down to his briefs. From the AP:

The city forbids people from showing their buttocks in public, largely to curb erotic dance parlors. Exemptions include dance, ballet, music or dramatic performances, or artistic displays; nudity during hockey practice isn't on the list.

John Oliver, the Idaho Junior Steelheads owner, wasn't at the practice where the players held the "strip shootout." But an assistant told him the players were emulating a professional team, the Tampa Bay Lightning, whose members held a similar shootout last week where they discarded pieces of equipment after failing to score.

The punishment is due to end on Wednesday, when the Steelheads will likely return to the ice wearing their third burkas.

Stick-tap to Justin K. for the story.

Are you kidding me? Where are we at in society today with 17 year old punks stripping on the ice clearly in front of others to see. Ask me to strip. Not only am I a licensed professional, I'm a man. I'm 40. Not just a kid like those punks. And by the way, I was not out getting a taco. So get your facts straight. Eating that day old burrito makes me want to puke. That's all I have to say.

haha i can see my junior team doing that but my coach would never allow that. The blame should be on the coach for allowing them to do that.

The real question is, did the goalie have to strip if he let a shot it?

Idaho has a high percentage of very conservative Mormons (I lived there). As a rule the Church of Latter Day Saints is very outspoken on moral issues and family values, so I can imagine this caused quite a stir. Sure, the one kid who "mooned" his teammates took it a bit too far (and was reprimanded), but it's kids being kids. Anywhere else with less of a "morality police" presence, this barely makes the local news.

The Amerks did this at a practice once. If a mother and son werent also at the rink watching I'm wondering if the goalie didnt just finally let a shot in. Here's Mike Funk, currently playing for the Manitoba Moose

Mooning for ballet (!), dance, music, dramatic performances or artistic displays IS OK?
Isn't a shootout a dramatic performance or artistic display?
I sure hope the guy who was mooning the other player wasn't the goalie. (Insert five-hole joke here.)

Blame their logic....are we that allowable to stupidity in this world? Also don't you cut the guy who made it down to his briefs?
The NHL practices are closed and any pictures allowed to be taken from them are screened.
These kids were playing in a rink that was open to the public, it doesn't take a Harvard degree to see the difference.
Oh wait....there was someone(s) to figure that this was wrong to do even if all the kids were plumb stupid...that person is called the coach.
