The influence of the NHL's Winter Classic has stretched to high school, minor league and college hockey since the first event New Year's Day 2008 in Buffalo. Pittsburgh-area high schools have staged an annual event for the past three years. There have been two outdoor games this season in NCAA D-I hockey and the Syracuse Crunch and Binghamton Senators are preparing for the Mirabito Classic at the New York State Fairgrounds on February 20th

Following the trend of taking indoor sports outdoors are the Harlem Globetrotters. Yesterday, in front of 500 local New York City students, the Globetrotters defeated the Washington Generals 32-15 at Central Park's Lasker Rink. While the Globetrotters have played in places such as a bull fighting rings and aircraft carriers of all places, it was the first time they had ever played on ice. Wearing ice cleats and helmets, the Globetrotters played their usual pranks on the Generals as well as showcased their basketball skills inside of the rink:

This brings us to who you think would make up a hockey-version of the Harlem Globetrotters. Rob Schremp(notes) is a YouTube legend with some of his moves in shootout exhibitions. Steven Stamkos(notes) has also been known to get crafty with the puck. Those two would be good choices if you're compiling a starting lineup.

There'd also be a need for a hockey-version of the Washington Generals willing to lose almost every time and have themselves made to look like fools at times. We're eagerly await the amount of "Edmonton Oilers" responses we get.
