No. 1 star: Jussi Jokinen(notes), Carolina Hurricanes

Jokinen was the main man in Carolina's 7-2 rout of the Florida Panthers with a goal and two assists. His goal gave the Hurricanes a 3-0 lead late in the first period and Carolina didn't look back from there. He would later assist on goals by Rod Brind'Amour(notes) and Jay Harrison(notes), both coming 19 second apart in the third period.

No. 2 star: Alex Auld(notes), Dallas Stars

Giving struggling Marty Turco(notes) a breather, Auld made  his Stars debut in memorable fashion knocking off the undefeated Calgary Flames 5-2. The win was Dallas' first of the season. Auld set the tone early in the first period when he denied Dustin Boyd(notes) on multiple chances in front of net.

No. 3 star: Cam Ward(notes), Carolina Hurricanes

After allowing six goals in Carolina's first two games, Ward has now posted back-to-back solid performances for the Canes, allowing just three goals on 57 shots in his last two starts. Late in the second period Ward made one of his 26 saves in acrobatic fashion, robbing Stephen Weiss(notes) with a raised leg.

Honorable mention: Carolina's Jay Harrison scored his first NHL goal ... Seven different Hurricanes scored for Carolina ... The Hurricanes now have 17 wins in their last 25 games against division opponents ... Dallas defensemen Nicklas Grossman(notes) and Stephane Robidas(notes) were both plus-5 ... Mike Ribeiro(notes) and Brad Richards(notes) each chipped in a goal and an assist and were both plus-2.

Did you know? Scott Walker's(notes) wife, Julie, sounded the Canes siren before the game. She is now fully recovered from cervical cancer that was diagnosed during last season's playoffs.

Dishonorable mention: Tomas Vokoun(notes) was lit up for five goals on 26 shots and pulled in the third periodl. His replacement, rookie Alexander Salak(notes), allowed two goals on seven shots in his NHL debut ... Panthers defensemen Bryan Allen(notes) (-5) and Dmitry Kulikov(notes) (-4) witnessed most of Carolina's goals up close. Kulikov and Vokoun's inability to handle a dump in led to Jussi Jokinen's goal, giving the Hurricanes a 3-0 lead ... The Panthers were 0-for-6 on the power-play ... Rene Bourque(notes), Daymond Langkow(notes), and Jarome Iginla(notes) were a combined minus-8 for the Flames ... Ribeiro beat Flames goaltender Curtis McElhinney(notes) on the first shot of the game.

Am I the only one who read the sentence as "Kulikov and Vokoun's inability to handle a dump" because of where the link ends? Now that's the way to end a night.
