Puck Daddy - NHL

For the dad that has everything: A six-foot-tall, 150-pound fiberglass moose with a Boston Bruins jersey painted on it, autographed by a bunch of current and former Bruins players. This was an entry in the 2008 New Hampshire Moose Parade, which evidently exists.

The moose is signed by, among others, Phil Kessel, David Krejci, Milan Lucic, Shawn Thornton, Zdeno Chara, Andrew Ference, Shane Hnidy, Mark Stuart, Dennis Wideman, Manny Fernandez and Tim Thomas. You even get Andrew Alberts, before the Flyers trade. Photos of the players signing the moose are included.

This is the last day for the Bruins moose auction on eBay, but there haven't been any bids as of 2:30 p.m. EST. So if $800 is too much for a fiberglass moose with Lucic ink, perhaps something can be arranged after the auction ends.

The sale price benefits the Daniel Webster Council Boy Scouts of New Hampshire. And hey: "The moose itself is in excellent condition and has been auto clear coated to withstand the elements." If nothing else, a Red Sox fan should snag this in celebration of Mussina's retirement ...

An aside: Are the Bruins now officially the Chicago Blackhawks East: An original six team steeped in nostalgia, championship starved and emerging from years of middling success to once again contend in their conference? And by that we mean: The flavor of the month?

Speaking as a long suffering Bruins fan, should we adopt a new rallying cry of "Commit to the Bear"? I'd say "Committ ot the Mosse" in spirit of the article, but I don't want the Sarah Palin curse coming anywhere near my team.

That's awesome. If it was less than $800, I'd want it more.
That said, the bruins are certainly getting notice around boston, and I'm loving it. More and more folks at work say things like "great game last night, huh?" to me...which is awesome.
Season tickets this year have been a great idea. And an awful idea. It's expensive.

beer man, he just needed an excuse to talk about the bruins some. Also, it's silly that it's a moose. Maybe he's trying to support the Daniel Webster Council Boy Scouts of New Hampshire. I suspect the latter, personally.

I'd be offended, but your joke over on the Pronger post is the funniest, most un-PC thing I've read all day.

Does watching the Bruins to catch a glimpse of your boy Milan make you miss Claude Julien?

The way the Bruins play, they could either be a threat to go real deep in the playoffs, or not score at all and get swept early. They need MFMF(the second half stands for Manny Fernandez for those not in the loop on Bruins slang) to give them a solid 25-30 games so Thomas doesn't get burnt out towards the end of the year like he has in the past. If that's the case they will be a legit threat in the postseason.
Thought I'd add some actual hockey commentary to this otherwise useless post. It looks like the moose is wearing hooker boots instead of hockey skates.

Wysh...a 6 foot fiberglass moose? Former hockey players vs. Skeletor? Either you've been nipping at the dutch brownies or there is absolutely nothing to blog about. Can't you just make stuff up for hockey starved fans like TSN?

When the Bruins scored seven goals last night, I actually had to check to make sure they hadn't fired Julien and hired Ftorek.
Oh, and for Pete's sake: We'd hope by now that you'd come here expecting to see a few posts about fiberglass moose and Skeletor fighting Bob Probert.

I would rather have the New York Ranger Moose, signed by Mark Messier. Special features include grit, heart, leadership, and carnal knowledge of Madona.
(OK, this worked better for my Detroit Red Wing golf cart remarks)
