Puck Daddy - NHL

Puck Daddy's Sean Leahy did a breakdown of the respective mayors of Pittsburgh and Detroit during our Stanley Cup finals previews, and found that Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick had a few ethical and legal issues dogging his administration. Never a good sign when terms like "impeachment" start getting tossed around.

Ben Schmitt and Drew Sharp of the Detroit Free Press reported that Detroit Red Wings owner Mike Ilitch personally invited the embattled Kilpatrick to today's Stanley Cup championship rally and parade. "I can't think of a reason why the mayor shouldn't be there," Ilitch said.

Kilpatrick appeared today for some brief statements. And here's what happened:

Never a good thing when both Chris Osgood and free beer fail to earn an ovation.

A user that posted a different video feed of the appearance on YouTube claims that Kilpatrick uses "a gang sign" at the end of this footage, but we're not exactly experts on that sort of thing.

The Freep quoted Kilpatrick's Spokesman James Canning's explanation for the booing: "The mayor has been elected to office twice by the residents of Detroit ... Based on the crowd's reaction, I guess if he was running for mayor of Joe Louis Arena, he wouldn't win."

Based on the reaction, Claude Lemieux could run for mayor of Joe Louis Arena and beat out Kwame Kilpatrick ...

After the interveiw he went and shot three more strippers who were at the party that never happened, then sent a text to Christine Beate saying he loved her.. THis is all just speculation though cuase we have to prove it was his had that typed the messege, just forget about the strippers.

I am surprised he didnt drop the n-bomb to get applause about how everyone is out to get him...maybe the crowd was a little to bright for that

I was so happy to see him get booed at the parade. Hes worthless. You can tell that if the people outside of detroit had a say in the detroit elections, he would not have been re-elected. Unfortunately we dont have a say in something that effects more people outside of detroit then does inside of detroit.

That was the high light of the parade for me. Kwame is a shelfish thug and it amazes me that the people of the D elected him again and still support him. Its embarrising.

Say what you want about Kwame, but at least he had the congratulations in pretty good order:
"Wecome to the home of Chris Osgood"
"Welcome to the home of Zetterberg"
"Welcome to the home of Babcock"
Whether he wrote it or not, is a fan or not, he went to the trouble of making an optional Red Wing parade speech.
    He CAN'T be ALL bad!

They reelected that “crack head” Marion Berry in Washington, and they’ll reelect this bozo too. Why? Because “he,be beating the man, beating the system” They wanted a thug, they got a thug. His speeches come right out of Colman Young’s playbook. Drop the “n-bomb”, and blame the suburbs. They had a good mayor, in D. Archer. He tried to turn the city around, but he was no thug, so he had to go. Ya got what ya wanted, Detroit………live with it.

The "BONEHEAD" should have texted his speech on the bigscreen because the booing from "it's the suburbites fault" carried on through his whole trash-talk'in, BS speech........wad he say.............who cares! I would like to personally thank Mr. Illitch for giving us the chance to collectively voice our opion of this irresponsibly spoiled child. The resident's of the "Great City of Detroit" should be appalled of this adolescent. If this minor leaguer had any integrety and cared about the citizens instead of himself and his perks he would step-down and show some morale. It's was a "highlite" of the rally. I think Tigress Woods and Kwhymee would be the perfect golf partners, they could wash each others plastic balls!

Why did they even let that idiotic boob Kilpatrick on the same stage as the Red Wings....the Red Wings are absolute winners, Stanley Cup champions, and Kilpatrick is just one gigantic zero of a loser.

They should have invited that idiot governor too, so that she could have been boo'd as well. Despite her and her ruining of the Michigan Economy, there were still plenty of fans to enjoy the win. Lets elect wings players to all the important positions, they at least know how to win!!!
