Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin needed to be helped off the ice after taking a dangerous hit from Toronto Maple Leafs forward Nazem Kadri. Kadri was quick to point out that he isn’t trying to hurt anyone with the tactic, but he was close to doing just that in Game 5 when he set his sights on Capitals superstar Alex Ovechkin. Ovechkin needed to be helped off the ice, his left knee clearly hyperextended after being chopped down by Kadri’s low bridge.
P.K. Subban’s Nashville Predators are playing in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Marc Bergevin’s Montreal Canadiens are not. From a Canadiens’ perspective, the main on-ice argument for the Subban-for-Shea Weber trade was that it would benefit Montreal in the short term, given that the 31-year-old Weber still had a few effective years in him.
