    Wild’s Eric Staal released from hospital after head-first crash into boards vs. Blues

    ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) Minnesota Wild center Eric Staal was released from the hospital after leaving Game 5 agains the St. Louis Blues due to a head-first crash into the boards, according to the team. During a 4-on-4 situation in the second period, Staal sent a breakaway shot at the net before tripping on Blues goalie Jake Allen's skate after initial contact with defenseman Carl Gunnarsson knocked him off balance. Staal slid hard and horizontally into the boards.

    Kings hire John Stevens as next head coach

    The Los Angeles Kings moved fairly quickly when it comes to replacing Darryl Sutter, and they did not have to go very far to do it. The Kings announced on Sunday that John Stevens will take over as the team’s next head coach. Stevens has been an assistant coach with the Kings since the start of the 2010-11 season and spent four games as an interim head coach with the team during the 2011-12 season after Terry Murray was fired, and before Sutter was hired.
