A Tampa judge has sentenced former NFL running back Troy Hambrick to five years in prison for selling crack cocaine. The former Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals player was sentenced Tuesday by U.S. District Judge Steven D. Merryday. Hambrick pleaded guilty on Feb. 26 to one count of distributing 50 grams or more of crack cocaine.

Cowboys linebacker Greg Ellis cringed any time the future of maligned Pro Bowl safety Roy Williams came up this offseason.

Often, Ellis has been asked this spring whether Williams would be cut or traded.

During a radio interview with Sirius Satellite Radio on Thursday, Ellis did his best to defend Williams—although his defense seemed to corroborate the criticism that follows Williams.

Ellis said Williams was not a good fit in Dallas in Wade Phillips' 3-4 defense and that Williams said as much before the season.

"It bothers me when people criticize Roy," Ellis said. "I was trying to give Roy the benefit of the doubt and let everyone know that he told me before the season that the defense didn't fit the type of player he was.
