    Warning: This column contains no good answers. In the case of Giants kicker Josh Brown, there are none. The only hope is to understand that the notion of establishing black-and-white rules for cases of domestic violence is nonsense. Brown is the Giants' veteran kicker, now 37, suspended for the season opener here against the Cowboys Sept. 11. The league handed him a one-game suspension last week for a domestic violence arrest (not conviction) in 2015. The league's critics -- there are many, and I am often one of them -- insist Brown should have received the full six-game penalty for violation of the NFL's personal conduct policy, one that was put in place after the Ray Rice case two years ago.

    Source: Tom Coughlin joins NFL's competition committee

    Along with John Elway and Bruce Arians, former New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin ?has also been added to the NFL's competition committee, according to a source. It appears as if Los Angeles Rams coach Jeff Fisher is the only member of the committee that has stepped aside, and the rest of the competition committee remains intact, for now. Also, the NFL will have a newly formed Chairman's Committee that will handle strategies and priorities for the NFL. The newly-formed committee will be composed of Chiefs owner Clark Hunt, Patriots owner Robert Kraft, Steelers president Art Rooney, Texans owner Bob McNair and Giants owner John Mara. Falcons owner Arthur Blank, meanwhile, will chair a committee
