Jason Elam, perhaps the best kicker of his era, had to endure the Falcons bringing in four kickers for a tryout this week.

Elam, who tied Tom Dempsey's NFL record for longest field goal when he nailed a 63-yarder in 1998, has been in a slump.

Elam has missed six field goals this season after making 29 of 31 attempts in 2008.

Elam figures he'll pull through the slump and keep on humming right along.

"I've had slumps before," Elam said. "I've played 17 years and there have been hiccups at various times. But I've always been able to kick myself out of them. Hopefully that is going to be the case. It is frustrating. I'll be the first to admit that, but I'm trying to correct it."

Elam had key misses in the last two games.
