NFL - Sports Rumors - Miami Dolphins

Team: Miami Dolphins

  • “TedMiami Dolphins head coach Tony Sparano hasn't been happy with what's been going on with his wide receivers so he may move starter Ted Ginn Jr.(notes) a few rungs down on the depth chart, according to the Miami Herald.

Sparano apparently didn't let Ginn practice with the first or second teams yesterday. Ouch. Instead, Sparano had Davone Bess(notes), Greg Camarillo(notes), and rookie Brian Hartline(notes) taking turns so he could get a closer look at them.

Ginn hasn't officially lost his starting job but it's looking pretty good that he will soon enough if he doesn't pull in a few more balls come Sunday. "We'll see where we are at the end of the week,'' Sparano said to the paper. "Right now, I'm just upsetting the whole apple cart to see how this thing goes."

    Bears' Smith not getting canned

“LovieThere is apparently a loud cry going up in the Windy City by fans of the Chicago Bears. It basically consists of one unified idea: fire coach Lovie Smith.

The team is 3-3 so there are plenty of other fans around the league (Hello, fans of the St. Louis Rams, Seattle Seahawks, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Detroit Lions, Washington Redskins, Kansas City Chiefs, Tennessee Titans, Cleveland Browns, and Miami Dolphins!) who don't know what Bears fans are so upset about. But there was an expectation for Smith to deliver more this season and his head is apparently being asked to be delivered on a plate by the masses, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The team, however, has no plans to fire Smith, according to the paper. He has two more years and about $11 million left on his contract and Bears owner Virginia McCaskey cannot afford to be paying Smith to not do a job while simultaneously paying someone else $6 million to do the job Smith was supposed to do.

So feel free to exercise your First Amendment rights, Bears fans, but don't expect anything to change for a few years.

  • “JoshCleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Cribbs would love to remain with the team for the rest of his playing career. But if the team doesn't want to commit to him, he wants them to go ahead and trade him now, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer.

The Browns are already dealing with what to do with deposed starting quarterback Brady Quinn(notes), who isn't so excited to be playing backup to Derek Anderson(notes), and now comes this. Cribbs signed a six-year extension back in 2007 that has him under Cleveland's thumb through 2012 at a price of $6.77 million. And now he wants a new extension and supposedly considered holding out this past summer for one.

Predictably, the Browns don't want to trade Cribbs before Tuesday's deadline and will likely try to work out some sort of deal with Cribbs this off-season.

Two teams that are believed to be the Kansas City Chiefs and the Oakland Raiders have apparently come to the Browns to ask about trading for Cribbs. The Indianapolis Colts, San Francisco 49ers, and Miami Dolphins are all supposedly interested as well.
