Torry Holt

Torry Holt raised eyebrows three weeks ago when he talked about reuniting with his brother Terrence — a safety for the Carolina Panthers — when the final two years of his St. Louis Rams contract were up.

"I wanted to just send in my resignation to the Rams and join him down here," Holt told Raleigh, N.C., television station WRAL with a laugh. "What better place to come and play football than in your home state?' "

Holt made the remarks at a charity golf tournament he and his brother held in North Carolina. Terrence signed as a free agent with Carolina earlier this offseason after spending the 2007 season with Arizona. To a degree, it was clear Holt was joking, particularly the remark about "resigning" from the Rams. But on Saturday, in his first comments to St. Louis reporters since the end of the 2007 season, it was clear that Holt is taking a realistic view about his future with the Rams.

wow! torry holt a panther! the panthers would arguably have the best 1-2 punch with holt and steve smith. i know it's only rumor but, he already won a championship with the rams early in his career, why not, by the time his contract is up, the panthers could be one best teams in the nfc. with stewart and williams in the backfield, and steve smith, jarrett at wideout(hopefully by then, he would become a star!) during these two years, get a legitimate tight end, beef up the o-line and find that future qb, they can be really good! but, we'll see what happens, that's a long time away. torry holt is one of the most consistant receivers in the game, he deserves to get to return to his home state if he and the panthers come to terms and want him there!

Holt is already angling for more money. It is never too early to be greedy.

Bearcat, Beefing up an offensive line, Getting a premiere tightend, and a franchise QB, Are alot to do in two yrs. Hopefully the Rams avoid injury and make the playoffs. Maybe next yr we will draft better after the the first round. But you were right about Holt and Smith, that would be a deadly combo.

Torry Holt and Steve Smith........................ A terrific WR tandem
The Panthers need another deep threat to eliminate the double coverage on Smith
Mushin can finish his career as a reliable slot WR
    A powerful RB duo
    Delhomme healthy!
    Retooled defense
I smell an 09 playoff run!
    Panthers win the Superbowl 2010!
However, the Rams were foolish of letting Issac Bruce go.......now they might lose Holt.....Hopefully Drew Bennet can help them out....."stifles laugh"

how is he being greedy? the players have a short window to make as much money as they can while playing. just because you do not thrive to make $8hr instead of your usual min wage, dont hate on torry.

Torry Holt and Steve Smith on the same team together would be interesting. But how long would it last before one of them complains about not being thrown the ball more? Anybody can argue that Holt was in the same field with another great wide out in Issac Bruce. But Bruce was older than Holt who before Holt put up big numbers.
Holt and Smith are pretty much about t he same age and still in their prime (when healthy). So who knows what will happen. Maybe they might co-exist if they're both on the same team...

How can you say the Rams were foolish for letting Isaac go. He is well past his prime, and cannot stretch the field, or catch over the middle ,or run after catch. He might be a good "route runner", but for the money they had to get younger & faster. He has had toe problems for a couple years now, & will die in San Fran. This coming from die hard Rams fan. As for Torry, his production is declining as well, with balky knees. However, one of the greatest pass catchers in the game, but doesn't like to get hit..Hate to see him go, but if he doesn't want to be a Ram then maybe he should go. Don't need that attitude in the locker room.

Let me tell you something, this would be a major loss to the rams. Holt has an excellent work ethic and would add value to any roster, no matter what point in his career it is. There's a reason he has such great hands...he works on it. Obsessively.

Why in the world would anyone want to leave the Greatest Show on Turf? Tory Holt will not be able to achieve the impossible feats he performs week in and week out without Kurt Warner passing him the pigskin. Warner makes Holt a better receiver. Also, in the Rams offense, Holt is continually able to beat coverage because defenses must respect Marshall Faulk. While defenses are stacking the line to stop Faulk, Holt is able to blow past his defenders and make things happen. If he leaves the Greatest Show on Turf, i do not know how his career will end up...

#8? Holt is not much of a deep threat any more. But he has some of the best hands in the game, And he learned how to be a great rout runner from the best in the game over the last 10 years (Isack Bruce). But a deep threat he is not as much as he once was. I hope he stays if he is healthy in two years. Who's to say what will happen. GOOOOO RAAAAAAMS!!!!

Ummm....#16....you do realize Kurt Warner is no longer on the Rams right?...He played for Arizona last year...and is still on thier roster...Last year was wasted on QB between Bulger and Frerotte...Might have had a much better season if they had stuck with Warner...big mistake there...

As a diehard NC State fan, and one that had the pleasure of watching Torry torch the ACC for 4 years, I would be ecstatic to see him end out his career an hour from where he grew up, and 3 hours from his offseason home in Wake Forest, NC. Torry is a class act, always has been, always will be! He does great things for the community (both in St. Louis and here in Raleigh), and is flat out one of the best WR's I hae ever seen! Declining numbers? I question that - he had exactly the same number of catches the past 2 seasons (over 90), and only 1 yd difference (over 1200 each year) the past couple of seasons. yes, he's past his prime, but those #'s are solid no matter who you are. And here's the trick - that's a DOWN year for him!
Bring the Holt brothers back to NC! Just wish the Panthers would change to Red/White for all us Pack fans!

Uh Kurt Warner hasn't played for the Rams for a while. Its been Bulger throwing him the ball for the most part. I mean, if you're going to post a comment like that, at least look into what you're saying.
Holt would be awesome anywhere he goes. He still has a few good seasons left. I think by the time he went to the Panthers he would be a little more geared up for the #2 slot. As a he gets older, I can see him filling in at #2 and still putting up 1000 yards a season

He should bolt Sooner The Rams will never make the Playoffs again with Linehan calling the shots , he is on a sinking ship. So to Torry S.O.S. Your way out of " Da Lou" because that team will never amount to nothing with Bulger & Concussion Prone Green as QB, a sad O-Line, no secondary, And No Reverend Ike (Issac Bruce) that team is on it's way to a 7-9 season this year or worse so Holt it's time to Jolt quickly out of St Louis. Be Thankful for that SB ring you have which is the last time the Rams will ever be issuing SB rings.
